i go about 290lbs suited and ride rough, I am looking into a apex rtx next year and wanted to hear from some big guys that beat on the mono in this yrs rx-1.
did it bottom out on the real rough stuff?? any problems in toughness(breaks in welds)?? did it perform up to your standards? would you buy the ra mono again??
thanks

A number of improvements for 06, including rail reinforcements, bigger bump stops. As an aggressive rider at 290 you can do 2 things. Get a heavier rear spring or try it first. If you find much hard bottoming change the spring as soon as you are able. The harsh bottoming is what is believed to be cracking the pivot arms

I'm a big guy too...at 280 I crashed the stock setting like it wasnt there. I called Yammaha with the simple complaint that I was upfront about how much I weigh, and the dealer told me the sled was set up for me. I was told I would need a new spring (heavier). The spring was on backorder, but the dealer put the suspension on the last clip, and the ride was 100% awesome. I smoked my buddy on his Rev, and stayed right with him on the worst of trails. I am getting the heavier spring installed soon as it will give me more options (god forbid I gain more weight) as far as letting me tighten it up if the trail goes bad. I will say this, even with the suspension undersprung for my weight...this is by far the plushest, most comfortable suspension I have been on. GET THE HEAVIER SPRING!!! You will not regret it at all, and it will make the ride 100% off the showroom floor (nothing sux worse than taking your new sled back to the dealer). Oh yea, measure how far it drops when you sit on it...you dont realize it but it will probably drop 4-6 inches on the showroom...on the highest setting on the stock spring I got 2-2.5 inches drop and the ride was awesome.
