From previous topic, Rx-Dave, mr Sled describe the ride quality of the Mono RA as awesome, like an m-10 or better. My friend (170 lbs) and I (195) tried yesterday to find the best settings. We are not satisfied with what we have obtained until now. To our surprise, the Vector rode a lot better, after spending times to find the proper setting.

We did our testing on trails with all kind of bumps and speed. We ended at #6 on the cam preload(to begin, his was at #3 and mine at #5), 3 clicks from 0 on the RA and tranfer rod between std and max. Strange thing is that my friend's Rx felt noticeably heavier on the steering with the same settings, although it improved when we increased his cam preload from #3 to #6. Only difference , he have 1500 miles on the odo and I have 1000.

Moving transfer rod from near minimum to near maximum makes a huge difference for transfer but I don't know yet for ride quality wich is the best. What should it be?

One thing for sure is that RA setting has to be very low (not more than 3-4 clicks from 0). If it is let say 5-6, the skid becomes very stiff on the small stutter bumps, you feel each of them on your back.

Should we try to move on the second C clip position, although our weight do not justify that? With the very positive comments on the Mono Ra, and my feeling that this suspension has the potentiel to do better, is it that you have to be heavier or do I miss something? Thank's.

Even though you are under 200 I would start from the next clip position and the soften it up with ra. I think the spring is just to weak for stock setting. My 02 cents ;)!

I'M 280 PLUS & I DO NOT BOTTOM OUT UNLESS ITS A BIG DIP & I THINK IT RIDES ON THE HARD SIDE ON 6!
RA AT 0 ALSO!
I'VE GOT PLENTY TRANSFER IN THE STOCK POSITION!
ANY MORE TRANSFER & IT WOULD NEVER HAVE THE SKIS ON THE GROUND!

Short 30 miles ride today. One thing for sure: setting the transfer rod to close to minimum improves a lot the ride. When close to maximum, it makes you feel the very small bumps(and you loose to much ski pressure), a bit like when RA is above 5-6 from 0.

I have went thru all of this and I still like it over my m10. I am currently running the heavy spring and now I can adjust the RA down to the softer setting without driving my spine thru the top of my head on the sleeper holes and the smaller bumps are very minimal.....That was just a few miles of testing. I also set my brothers spring to #7 and he is much happier with the ride. He is about #200....I will know more after this weekend on the TY Ride.

Ran 150 mile today. We had good trails conditions. Having closed transfer rod to almost minimum and RA at 2, it made the ride very good (spring preload still at 6). I exchanged my Rx with my friend rx who weight 170, and the trail was pretty rough for 10 miles. I was unable to follow him. He was pleasantly surprise how good mine ran. We then closed his transfer rod near minimum, and it improved the ride and reduced pressure on the skis wich was way to high ( it would do the opposite on an other suspension).

After today's ride, I will wait before moving to second c clip position (or increase my weight :drink: :D ). It shoud be ok at 6-7. Thank's Mr Sled and other Guys for your advices. :rocks:

SO I SHOULD REDUCE THE TRANSFER & THAT WILL MAKE IT RIDE BETTER? LIKE I SAID BEFORE, I'M 280 PLUS & SETTING 6 & 0 RA SEEMS HARD TO ME!
I DO HAVE A LITTLE TOO MUCH TRANSFER FAR AS MY SKIS BEING IN THE AIR ALOT, WHEN ON THE GAS!

I'm 280+ with gear. I have my cam on the max setting (I think it's 7?) My transfer is stock middle and I have been loosening my RA ever since. I think it's about 5 or 6 soft of center. catching long rollers on the up side will bottom the suspension and there are a few other times I've bottomed out. However, 98% of the time I can hammer this thing as hard as I want. Infact even slow speed cruising (40mph stuff) is great. I only have 800 miles on the odometer but this Mono-shock is cool.
