I raced a new mach this weekend up by Newberry,Mi Big field.First time we lined up I got the jump and he could not catch me the race was right around a 1/2 mile lined back up and he beat me out of the hole that time but I passed him shortly there after and held him off until 93 mph he did get by me but we were very close to the end of the field.I felt pretty good about my slow heavy fourstroke.I also raced a zrt 800 across a snow covered lake he couldn't beat me but on a hard packed trail he would pass me at about 103-105 mph every time.He would get his bumper even with my skies and we would stay like that.

When I lined up against a broken in Mach with clutching he blew my doors off by 10 sled lengths in hardpack after 1/3 mile. I know I was quick because I was dead even with a clutched 800 XCR in that same race. If you were in a field the your 1.25" 136" were proabably hooking a lot better than his 1" 121" track.

The more I think about this post the more I believe lack of traction was the issue with the mach. Remember the bad rap the RX-1 got when it first came out and was getting whooped by sleds that shouldn't whoop it? IMHO it turned out to be the Finger track in loose snow. Basically the same sled in 04 with the Ripsaw and you didn't here near the stories of 500 and 600 cc sleds beating us.

I agree with mighty... No way that sled should get beat by the RX...

I agree about the lack of traction. When I first got my '03 RX-1 my friend's MXZ-700 would beat me 8 out of 10 times. Once I changed the skid and installed my used Cat track, which isn't even a good track...just better than that POS finger track...I get him every time now.

I ran against a ton of sleds this weekend at tip up town at the grudge track on the lake,I have trail studs and ripsaw track, most of these sleds had chisels, the big cats and machs were no problem,I ran 15#boost and realed them in at about 400' and did not look back, ran about 20 different races, the hardest one to real in was the mach with ice picks, the mach runs real strong to 100mph,then i pulled him about 8 lengths at 1000", this track was snow covered.

I took you 15lbs to beat a Mach Z????????? Ive seen clutched RX-1 against them and only pulled the RZ-1 by 2 to 3 sled lenghts. in about 1000'.

I don't think traction was as big a deal as you think field was very hard packed anyone fimilar with Newberry know's where this field is and it is always hard packed.Field on the south trail just outside of town runs along side M-28.I don't know if his chip was burned out or not just pulled up along side him in the field. My sled has similar results with a t-cat.Also first rule of racing keep the advantage in your favor.Pick your spots wisely.

Re: mach
Did not mean that in a negative way. I guess conditions do play a role and traction is an issue.

i for one am very happy with the way my new rx runs. this weekend i raced several different sleds.....2 800 polaris, both with new heads, wiseco pistons, clutch kits, reeds, and carbs......i beat one 6 out 9 races and the other beat me all races by 2 sleds. also raced a zr600 cross country that did beat me a few times, and he swears it's stock but.......cmon zr600 going 115 mph.......one more thing, also raced an 05 rx1 and at 90 he blew by me, i asked him what he had and sad it was stock...cmon same sled as me and blew by me......what gives
