My name is Tom Clement and I am a columnist for American Snowmobiler magazine. I am racing a 2009 Yamaha Phazer RTX in an effort to raise awareness for breast cancer and to raise money for Pink Ribbon Riders, a breast cancer charity based in Battle Creek, MI. I am racing on the USCC cross country series.

This all started because my wife just recently finished treating for stage IIa breast cancer and it became obvious to me how widespread this disease is and how much help the survivors need with finances. Pink Ribbon Riders is an all volunteer charity that gives money to patients and survivors in the form of $500 gift cards that they can use for whatever they choose.

I will be raising money throughout the race season and my goal is to raise at least $2000, which would help out about four survivors. I am currently at about $300. I have set up a link through Paypal to make donations if anyone is interested. You don't need a Paypal account to donate, just a credit card. Just click the donate button at the following link:

A big thanks to my sponsors: Yamaha Motor Corp; Stud Boy Traction; FXR Racing; USI Skis; Hi-Performance Engineering; Grove Motor Sports Yamaha in Crookston, MN; Custom Stripes; and Clear Channel Grand Forks.

Check out the pix of the sled. We have some graphics work left to do and I need to stud it and bolt on a my skid plate. I'm really excited to get out and ride it and I'm excited to be a member of Totallyamaha! Thanks for any support or tuning advice you can provide.

Hi Steve!

We raced together a little last year. I raced a limited schedule because of my wife's illness. Hope to a have a better winter this time around. Can't wait to see everyone again in the pits!

good to see someone is racing for a good cause. anyways good luck with your season and I hope you collect a lot of donations.

I will donate to your cause for sure.I bet if you give one of those ribbon stickers out you will get lots of donations.Would be proud to put that on my sled.

Oh yeah Tom, now I remember, you raced a vector some right?
Youre wife doing ok now? I should have a killer year, my machine is an animal. Mostly because of the suspention. I can ride that sled like my old REV.
Let me know if you need any help.

Steve

Boy that's the wrong thing to say! LOL I could use lots of help. Mainly trying to figure this beast out!

To start with, you could tell what you've been doing for a toe measurement on the skis? It's way off out of the crate and with that much travel I wasn't sure weather to run toe-in or toe-out. Also, I've been thinking about going one tooth more on the top gear to get more top end, but I'm not sure if this motor will pull it.

My wife is doing great. She's made it through all of the reconstruction and her hair has pretty much grown back. Now we just have to wait about four years to make sure nothing comes back. She is on a drug for that period of time that will help with that.

I will see what I can do to make the pink ribbon/checkered flag decal "available" if anyone is interested. I designed the logo with the help of a friend and my graphics sponsor, Custom Stripes, tweaked it and printed it off for me.

Thanks for the kind words and the support.

Good to have on here Tom, my wife works with Jody for the PRR. Glad your wife is doing well. Good luck with the racing!

To others, if interested in a Sticker to promote awareness P.M. SledGirl78 and she'll get back with you. SledGirl78 is my wife so I don't think she'll mind me posting this.

Jody is a hard working gal. It's overwhelming running an all volunteer charity. I just wish I could do more to help from a logistics standpoint.

I just went in and set up my sled and table with info at the college I teach at and collected over $270 in one day in free will donations and raffle money for some gift cards that were donated to me. And these were almost all college students (a few profs) droping 5s and 20s into the box. Pretty impressive. When my classes found out last year that my wife had breast cancer, I couldn't believe how many students came up to me and told me their moms had had it. A tough deal!

The I-500 is coming up. I am still looking to reach my $2000 goal by the end of the season. Currently, I am sitting at about $500, so I have a ways to go.

Thank you, to everyone who has helped out so far. I know times are tough, but even a couple of bucks helps out. See the link above on the original post if you'd like to make a donation.

Thanks to TY. You guys are great.
