I have the ram mount and a extra option ball stud.
What option is better and stronger:
1. Option to tap the iso-vibe mount with ball stud.
2. Option to make a aluminum bracket in "L" shape to mount ram mount to top bolts of riser.
The riser is made of strong aluminum and is 1/4 thick?

& if there is enough thread you can add a nut on the back.

I use the smaller ( 2") arm for the car and bought the longer (4.5") arm so I could lower the mount and use all 4 holes into the riser.

I used the bar clamp. not one of the options though. I would ad to put the mount so it is ahead of the handle bars. I had it on top of the bars on my quad and would get in the way while standing or stopping quickly.

I have never had a problem with the screw in Ram-mount ball. I don't have the specs in front of me to say what the recommended weight is for it. But I do know its rated about 5 times or more than the weight of a handheld GPS unit. A couple drops of blue loctite and snug up the ball with some small channel locks or Vise grips and forget about it.
The only thing I've ever broke is my actual GPS unit. The case around the mounting stud on the back of my Garmin 60CS. I hit a nasty bridge washout in excess of 75+ miles per hour. It felt like I broke the sled in two when I hit it. The Ram-mount itself went thru it with flying colors. On a side note, I was totally amazed when I called Garmin and told them what I did to my GPS they told me to send it in and I got it repaired for free.
