Reality is setting in

You'll just find something else to spend the money on. I'm assuming you stay for a while if you're driving that far. Yes snowmobiling is expensive but it does take up a great deal of time. Time which you'll be wondering what next to do and kicking yourself because you aren't out there enjoying riding.

Mighty, Mighty, Mighty, I dropped a dollar & picked up a dime!!!!

Thats the story of life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get on that Attak you've been waiting for & enjoy it!!!

LB, my truck is paid for ;)! ;)!
So it would actually cost me more to get a more fuel efficient vehicle by the time you add the purchase price to the lower fuel bill :ORC

Thats why you need to sell it and buy a used smaller truck, then if you're lucky, you might even get some extra cash to pay for that gas we all hate to have to buy.

Yeah...it freakin expensive but I will ride until I die. I don't care how much it costs. I will just have to figure out a way around it and spend smarter. That's why I bought a 2005 and not a 2006.

LB....4 & 6Cyl trucks DO NOT SAVE YOU MONEY when towing...they cost you more! Ask anyone who has ever towed with anything less than a V8.

I HAD A 2003 NISSAN PATHFINDER 4X4....SEV6....Can you Say PIG ON GAS???? :o| Averaged 9MPG pulling a double trailer where my buddy was seeing 13MPG in his Yukon. SOLD THE NISSAN and bought a Toyota Camry. Will pulll the trailer with our Oldsmobile Silhouette Mini-Van and I am considering buying a SINGLE enclosed trailer and pulling it with the Camry 8).

Uhm.. NO. V8 highway fuel consumption rate is higher with NO LOAD than a 4-cyl is CAPABLE of burning.

And if your 03 sev6 only did 9 with a double sled trailer, then there was something SERIOUSLY wrong with that particular unit. I know for a fact that my '88 sev6 with a 5000 pound load of ROCKS did NO WORSE than 15.

But nobody will want a big truck now with the gas prices. You are better off keeping what you have. I'm keeping mine.

Dan, there aren't many who can afford this sport but a few less pops and a few less nights out saves enough to make it possible. If I had to trailer to ride I would not be in the sport.

Jim

Jim i have to haul my sleds 400 miles each way from my house to Hougton michagan, each time, i go riding... Havent been much snow in lower wisconson the last 4 years..... ive traveled 800+miles in one weekend just to ride 100 miles on my sled..

Here is some ways to make the trip easier and cheaper...

1st.. get a portable DVD player... makes trips fly by..

2nd...rent a 4 place trailer and find 3 other friends to split the cost with you and the gas..

I averaged 16-17 MPG on highway...no load. With trailer, 9 MPG. Oh Yeah...did you pull that load of rocks 700 KMS?? :ORC I pulled a double trailer and 2 sleds that far and averaged 9-10MPG over that distance and buddy's Yukon got about 13MPG.....we stopped taking my truck because it was too expensive.

What...did you get 15MPG through town.....give me a break :?

PS....I THOUGHT I WOULD QUIT A COUPLE OF TIME.....I REALIZED I WILL NEVER STOP RIDING...I DON"T CARE HOW MUCH IT COSTS....I WILL JUST WORK HARDER SO I CAN AFFORD IT!!!

We get 15mpg. with my brothers 02" XLT SUBURBAN.. it only has the 5.3Liter engine.. and was pulling a two place open trailer..

The 4.9L engine in the new chevys has awsome power and also gets great gas milage.. (for those looking)

My other buddy has a 04 Chevy 4x4 truck with the 5.3L engine... and pulling a 24FT 3 place V front enclosed trailer and 3 sleds.. and still got 9-10mpg

Dont worry mighty i just called my dealer and he said the 06 sleds are slowly arriving one or two at a time. He has got rages and vector gt's but no attacks or apexs. He said a week or two after labor day.

20+ on the highway no load. The new 4.0's do 26 mpg. The 2.5's do 34.

I actually moved a very significant amount of rock with it. About 40 loads of 175 km. That makes 7000 (thousand) kms.

15 city actually sounds about right.

I'm telling you, something was wrong with yours. My '88 was old TBI injection, you had newer MPFI, so it should have used less than mine.

Yep, I’ve been on sleds since I was a floater banging on the seat so I’m not stopping till I’m blind and no dog to keep up! 8)
Sometimes changing lifestyle can compensate for extra costs in life. For those that smoke, quitting would be the best thing you’ve done both financially and health. For those that like to drink, try giving out less to the bars and drink at home with friends more often. :drink: I’m sure many of us can cut cost somewhere in our lifestyles to offset extra expenses. Many would be surprised on how much money they spend on little things that really add up and not be aware of the total cost in a month.

Dan

HEY, hows come the smokers have to quit and the drinkers get to do it at home. Not fair.

Riding is a great part of who I am so it's ranked high on my list. I may be crazy but I did quit smoking, I hardly drink anymore (my health did improve too), I sold my Kawasaki ZX9R superbike. Why??? so that I could affort having 2 - two RX-1s in my garage. One with a turbo and one set up for touring and long distance trips. But I don't have to trailer around to ride, I start riding straight from my garage onto the trails. In Norway gas priced is at $7.88USD a gallon for regular so I'm glad I don't have to pay for fuel for my wheel too when going for some quality time sledding.

Think snow
