Who ride without a rear cooler ? Did you notice any overheating problem ? I m thinking to get ride off the Rear cooler. Weight and track clearance are a problem with my big cooler and soon exhaust clearance.
what do you think

i overheated without mine. But i never checked my coolant mix. I remixed the coolant and put in the exchanger at the same time so I can't say what fixed the problem. Maybe with scratchers and the correct coolant mix I would have been fine.

I never installed one in my '03 RX-1mtn. I have had almost 2900 miles (over 800 with boost) trouble free miles. I do run ice scratchers from holz racing products. My engine temps on hard pack running 10 lbs boost are about 160* F with the premixed 50/50 coolant.

mine overheated first trip, I checked coolant and bled for air (problem) and have never overheated since even in low snow conditions!

I put mine on originally because it overheated. After a bit I took it off because I found my antifreeze was really thick. I have only used the pipe since then.

A Yam mechanic told me that the RX runs hot so it is advantageous to run it with a cooler. Deep snow you wouldn't ever have to worry, but us guys who only see mountains in our dreams may run into probs in the spring when the conditions are hard on the lakes and trails.
I am going with a MPI tunnel extension and have to make a bracket to accomodate the rear exchanger. Since I don't have time for anything (I haven't even looked at my sled since last spring) I may just take the rear exchanger right off and worry about it in the spring.
