As far as I know the Sr Viper does not have a rear heat-exchanger. The tunnel protection came stock from factory on my 14.

Inside my tunnel by the jack shaft I have what to me looks like a heat exchanger. I thought it was called a rear heat exchanger?

You might be right.
I call that a forward mounted heat exchanger. I have never seen it protected from studs. It sits pretty far away from track but someone here may have better info.

No tunnel protection required.
No rear tunnel cooler= no ice buildup or huge ice chunks.
Radiator/fan and front cooler= almost 0 overheating with a properly working cooling system.
On of the best designs on the viper IMO.
