I know the regular studs extend a lot more above the lug then the studs on a prestudded ice ripper track.I would still go with being safe with protectors.

I saw that the track had been nicking the metal about a foot in front of the HX.So I thought that it would be a good idea to hang the protectors lower as in my post .Bad idea! the new track that I installed after hits the protectors there. If you look at the attachment it shows how little clearance there is at that location with the the spacer removed.So do not put spacers in the front but in the rear it is fine with the 3/4" of nylon screwed to the protectors.The other thing was that the protectors are stiff and I had to use a C-clamp to pull the protector up to the tunnel before I could put a screw and nut on to secure it.
