Curious who has all changed out their rear skid bushings?

My 08 Vector currently has around 6,500 km's (4000 miles) and I wonderin if I should replace the rear bushings while the skid is out?

Things look pretty good back there bushing wise but I am also not an expert.
I seen the Pioneer kit but I am surprised how expensive it is for what seems like not a lot of bushings? ($67+ dollars U.S.)

For those that replaced them, how many miles did you have on your skid/sled and did you replace them with OEM, Pioneer or someone else?

I replaced mine last year with 7,000 miles on the skid. I used OEM not knowing Pioneer or anyone else made them. OEM are dirt cheap from Yamaha. When I installed them, I was surprised how little wear there was on the old ones that I replaced. I even wonder if it is necessary to grease them since the bars never touch the forward or rear suspension arms.

Thanks Vectornut, by the sounds of it, I should be good for a while yet?
I will price out the OEM's and compare the difference. ;)!

I have the pioneer kit an love it.
I'm confused Darv?
Why exactly do you love it, can you actually feel a difference? :dunno:

I have been using there bushings since 1997 an they hold up so well. I have put them in my buddy's sleds they last way much longer than stock. My brother in law has a sled with 20,000 km an they where still good.

Where do you find Yamaha rear suspension bushing kits or do you have to buy them individually.

From Yamaha you have to buy them individually

I used the oem bushungs at first, and next time I pulled the skid(1 year later), I found some bushings cracked. Then I put in the pioneers and they seem to go in better and look like new. but only 2 seasons on them and maybe 3000 miles.

the skid on my old 05 war got re-bushed last fall with pioneers kit. has all the bushings except for the relay rods on the proaction. even had some of the front bushings in it. all of the bushings where Yamaha ones with the Yamaha part# on them.

btw the sled had 9500km on it when I did it and it was time as all the bushings had slop when they where done.

The stock bushings are junk and I have replaced mine several times. Especially the large ones on the front most mounting points. The next time I have to replace them I will be buying the Pioneer kit.

How many miles BD if you have replaced them several times?

I looked over mine, (6150 km's) and they still look good, but I don't have anything new to compare them too either.

I was going to replace them anyways until I seen the price. I know they are nylatron but for what they are, I found that pricey, especially when I believe I still have life left in mine?

Irv,

The large plastic bushings on each end of the front most mounting shaft I end up replacing every couple thousand miles or so. I have 8600 miles on my sled and I am on my fourth or fifth pair of these specific bushings. I grease every zerk after every weekend trip but these two bushings always wear out.
