Ive got an 08 apex gt with 600 miles on it stock the other day i was on a bad bumpy trail when the rear skid seemed to bottom out really bad at slow speeds. After i got off the trail it seemed fine at higher speeds. I checked nothing seems to be broke but i was wondering if anyone else has this problem. The shock is set at half with the elec. turned right up.
Stats: 6 foot 190 pounds. Any input would be nice

You need big boy spring (stiffer spring), the stock shock spring is too weak. All RA mono's have the same problem. Is it a mono suspension setup?

Carver Performance re-valve will make a huge difference. At uour weight you should be fine without the stiffer spring if you do the re-valve. I am 200# without my gear. Check out my post on this thread.

Are you sure you are bottoming out or are you hearing the banging that comes from the slack in the transfer rod when going over stutter's at slower speed's? At your weight your spring should be fine. Also check your ride height, It is critical on the mono. There are thread's on ride height in here. kviper

X2 on the noise. I also doubt that you were bottomming out at low speed. The transfer rod clunks bad over bumps at low speed but this is normal.
At your weight you do not need a stiffer spring. You will however greatly benefit from a Carver Performance re-valve as I described in the link in my last post.

I'm pretty sure its your transfer rod ,and thats normal.I have an 08 and its way stiffer than previous years . I weigh 250lbs and rode the last 5 days in Quebec with a 40 lbs trunk bag on and it bottomed out rarely and when it did it wasn,t bad.I was one of two. 08 gts the rest were doos. 3 machs, and three 800x's. THey always complained about the odd spine crushers every time we stopped . So I don't know what all the hype is about there skid. by the way one 06 mach siezed in the first 20kms, only had 2500mls on it

If you are bottoming, turn your pre-load up a thread at a time till it stops.

I highly doubt you are bottoming out at 190lbs. I have the same sled and weigh 235 dressed. Last season I was bottoming out. This year I got my dealer to properly set the ride height and it works great. I think a lot of guys here are jumping to get new springs and revalves done when its not needed.

thats for the reply guys ill stiffen the shock a bit but as far as the transfer rod what to i do just leave it alone. I wouldn't think i would need a revalve yet its a brand new machine w/600 miles on it no ditch banging at all just trail riding. if i stiffen the shock i guess i would need to play with the transfer rod to??

Transfer rod will clunk anyway. Just the way it is. I was concerned about it last season as well. Just adjust the rod to get the type of handling you want. Too much trasfer and you will not turn well. Not enough and it turns like a bear and has less traction. I would start with it set about midway. There is a wrench in your tool kit to adjust it with a scale on it for measurment.
