I can't wait to get everything back together. Its going to look nice.

I used a local shop right around the corner from where I work in Waukesha, WI. They did fine job. Dropped off last Wednesday afternoon, picked up on Monday morning. $150 for everything.

I also welded 1/4-28 nuts at all the grease points before coating for real replaceable threaded grease zerks. The factory sure could take some pointers here. Who'd ever think grease zerks could bring joy?!

Looks sweet!

Also appears you welded nuts on the grease locations prior to coating to accept "normal" grease fittings like I did, great idea, the 06 zerks were lame.
Keep an eye on the underside of the weld locations though, the material can swell slightly from the weld heat and create a tight spot on the shafts when you re-install. It's an adventure getting inside there to clear the high spots, probably a two beer job!

Looks great!
I am still on the fence whether to get my suspension done or not?
Up here it is a lot more money than $150 for some reason but if I knew I was going to get an absolute awesome job that would last for years and years to come then I would probably go for it?

Right now I am definitely going to be replacing the stock bogie wheels with either Kimpex Wheels or the new Yamaha wheels(both with replaceable bearings)

Are the wheels in your pics aftermarket/new or original equip?

The spoked wheels shown have the replaceable bearing and are right from the Yammi accessory catalog.

They did not come with the sled from the factory.

I just had mine done by a TYer.Welt does a great job, at Half baked podwercoating. Adds much needed welds and many gussets. No more crackin the w-arm for me! Then powercoats to your color. 199.00$ I'm Happy with mine, as r many others!

For those who have had their suspensions powder coated, do you find that it resists the normal chips that eventually cause rust to start, better than the stock paint, or does this still happen?

I love the way everything turned out.

I didn't need the the beef up kit because I already have the updated front arm. Otherwise I would have used Welt too.

Regarding chipping, I'm told the powder coat is more durable. Time and trail conditions will tell!

I thought the 2010 updated w-arm was not for the 06 or 07? Plus its like four hundred buck too! NO?

Correct me if I'm wrong, the stronger updated arm became available in 2008 model year.

This is pulled right from halfbaked website:

"Years 2005-2007 yamaha apex and attack suffered from a week front arm in the rear suspension."

The guy I bought my '06 from was the original owner. His dealer replaced the weak, cracked front arm for him (Y.E.S.) on the sled with the updated arm. That is the arm in my photos above. It has extra bracing and gussets right from the factory.

I don't know how much that part costs. I do know that my good friend is going to get his original style front arm replaced on his '07 Attak by Port Yamaha under Y.E.S. His factory arm is cracked and the dealer confirmed that the replacement arm will be the stronger updated arm.

I still have to help him pull his skid. He wants to get his rear skid powder coated the same as mine.

The newer arms crack too. I haven't heard how the half baked ones have been holding up but I'm sure if they weren't it would be posted on here. Plus they have a nice beef up kit I dont think that one will fail.

Regardless of year if you put on a lot of miles a year I would say the half baked mod is a cheap way to enjoy the winter.

It is my understanding that the beef up kit applies to a particular model year subset of pivot arms. That is specifically how the company advertises it's kit.

I suppose someone could have their updated factory arm fitted with the beef up kit. Their fab guy would have to grind off the factory gussets and bracing just to weld them back in the same place along with the couple of unique reinforcements they add with the kit.

That said, if my updated arm ever cracks, I know I'll be sending it out to halfbaked...

or try to rationalize to the Mrs. the need to pop for the zx2 ;)!
