what is the best rear suspension for an apex running 18/19 lbs. of boost for strength, hill climbing and light weight. and approx price for each. m10, holts, elkohm, and any others if there are.

I like my ekholm works great climbing, keeps the front down, I have been using it for 6 years now just keep switching it out when I change sleds its too good to get rid of. rebiult shocks once and replaced bushings once. I have it under my my trx for the third year now running up to 25 lbs boost, I have never broke anything on it yet. i think they want about $2500 for one now, I paid $1000 for mine new as it was the first year and they wanted to get some on the snow.

I think the ekholm are around $3000cdn, the holz is around 1800cdn, the M-10 goes from $2500cdn to 6600cdn. Telling which skid to pick is like saying which turbo to get. You could phone Dean at Alpine Motorsports in Salmon Arm. He has a poor mans setup for you stock skid. Something about an alu body shock for the rear of a different yamaha sled and a collar. It was info I read of snowest.

I already have the shock in my sled and it made a big difference its way mroe controlable. I heard something about moving the rear sicor arm to make the skid couple faster to.

I have been hearing alot of good things about the ez-ride as well, I think thats what I would buy if I was buying a new one.

What have you guys been hearing about the EZ ryde? I havent heard much about it and before i put one in i would like to hear a full report

what is the weight of an m10. the ez ryde is 65 lbs.
does anyone know the weight of a stock skid off an apex.

Nothing will come close to a properly set up M-10. M10 is a full coupled suspension and will keep the nose down where you want it. And no skid out there will give you the ride quality in 3 foot whoops getting into the mountains, riding the M10 is as comfy as sitting on your couch.

Reducing serious weight in the rear skid area can be done with a Holz or an EZ ride, but niether of those will even come close to an M10 for ski lift, ride quality etc.

Stock Apex 162" skid is 68 lbs
Sock Holz 162" skid is 45.9 lbs
Stock M10 159" 63.1 lbs
Stock CR billet 162" M10 53.4 lbs
CR billet with Ti FTA and RTA and Ti spring 41 lbs. (I dont suggest the Ti rear spring, although it is super light, its not a dual rate spring and doesnt ride nearly as well as the stock heavy M10 spring) (Waste of $$)

If that is true then why are the competion hillclimbers going to the EZ-Ryde skid?
I rode one on a Bucky's build polaris hillclimb sled and it was incredible, I owned a M-10 on my Turbo V-Max 4 and it was a good skid also. The EZ-Ryde is also designed to control ski lift and is awesome in the woops. When the Hillclimb racers go up a hill in the RMSHA circut it is not straight up the hill, they have a coarse to run and it is a must to be able to control your sled (keeping your front end down so you can turn).
I am not selling the EZ skid I own a Fabcraft skid under my TRX-1 I was just very impressed. The M-10 is also a good skid.
Check out the EZ-Ryde website, I think it is very interesting and I know it works. EZ-Ryde has mostly been on the RMSHA hillclimb race sleds and is now breaking out in the public market so they don't have short track lenght yet but they are coming.
