I thought I saw a post on this topic last year, but I couldn't find it. I have an 08 GT with 850 miles on it. The rear suspension sags about 5 inches from fully extended after I get off it. If I pull it up it stays up, but I wouldn't think it should sag that much after 850 miles. I had the rear of the sled elevated over the summers, so no weight on it then. Any ideas why it's doing this? I took out extended Yamaha warrenty. Think I should bring it in to the dealer?

I don't see anything wrong, is there something I should be looking for? Or are you suggesting something is broken?

what do you have the torsion spring setting at?
look at the shocks.. ok? maybe revalve or upgrade is needed.

Check the link at the base of the skid where the 2 shocks mount. The front H-Arm (where the lim strap attaches) is also a week point. You do have an 08 though so this is most likely not the issue. Make sure you fully grease the skid and make sure nothing is binding. Once that is complete.. I would adjust the torsion spring from soft.. to medium... then stiff. See if the skid slowly shows a bit more resistance. If so, the spring could be a part of the issue. The above posts stated that the shock may need revalving... this is could also be the issue but I would start with the basics of greasing first and checking the reaction from your rear torsion springs by adjusting the stiffness.
I also have a sag'n rear end problem. It's a 09 GT with 800 miles on it. The torsion springs setting was set on soft. When I lift the back of the sled up to extend the suspension all the way and let go the bracket rotates down all the way to the white plastic stops circled in yellow. After a day of melting off I changed the torsion springs setting to medium. Now it settles about 1/4" from hitting the stops. I've checked everything for breaks and found none. Does this mean the back shock in green is shot?

no, i don't think your shock is shot. i have mine torsions set on high ever since i bought it. i put them on soft once & didn't like it just loading it in my truck. bottomed out too easy. i'm 170+ geared up. for me it's not a rough ride at all on the high setting. i even have a little tunnel carnage from my studs being stupid on my part.

Hey fellas, shocks do not control ride height unless they are air shocks like Fox shocks. They dampen the movement of the springs. Set your rear suspension springs to stiffer settings, both of them as the Yamaha suspensions are coupled so both springs effect eachother. KJ#14 the yellow circle on your picture is the transfer rod and the gap you mention is the setting - read your manual it will tell you how to adjust the transfer rods. Prav has it right - grease it up and stiffen it up.
I took a look at the manual. The only adjustment I see for the "rear" part of the rear suspension is the cams for the springs. The part I have circled in yellow is the stopper for the pivot arm that the shock is bolted to. I'm just trying to find out if a 5" to 6" drop in the suspension is normal without any weight put on it. It seems like it's sitting a lot lower than it did before the last ride. Thank you guys for your input.
If you consider a sticking suspension normal then yes it is normal.If nothing is bent or broke and you totally disassemble all of the skid and clean everything that moves the sag will be totally gone even on low spring setting.Even greasing the skid every 100mi will not cure the sticking.I just live with it since it is only slightly noticable to me and doesnt seem to affect fallout of suspension once moving.
