Rear Suspension

I think I am better off to get rid of it and get a new one or something else I am very very disappointed in the suspension enough to make me not want to ride unless its a good trail and thats saying alot. I dont hurt my back or anything but it just plain sucks to ride. I figure if I spend 500 on a skid 300 on a seat and probably 6 hours to install it I have almost got enough to get something else. Not to mention I dont get the 45 pounds lighter you get with a new one. I know I am just ranting but the ebay thing really pissed me off LOL. All the leg work to call and find out if it will fit etc and its gone with like 20 seconds to go. Riding last weekend was so bad I dont want to go again until I get something better under the back of it.

Well you do save some weight...around 16 lbs. I think, by going with the Cat skid. And those prices were a bit high...I have around $350 invested in a very low mileage (around 600 miles) Cat skid, including shipping and the coupling kit. I wouldn't even bother changing the seat until you try the new skid...I'm very happy with the comfort of mine now. You also get other benefits over the '05, such as very cheap and readily available replacement parts on the Cat skid, rebuildable Fox shocks so you don't have to buy a new $300+ shock when it wears out in a couple years, and a popular skid with lots of support for it. But its up to you...the '05s are supposed to be great. I'd wait a while to make sure they don't have problems with that new skid, as far as strength and wear and tear. Its too new to know how its going to hold up.

Where did you get skid and coupler for 350 I guess I would do it for a reasonable price like that. I think a bad ridxe Sunday and losing what I thought was a deal on ebay made me a touch on the irrational side LOL Does anyone here have one for sale

Keep watching ebay. I had to watch it for a week or so for each skid I bought to find good ones. The first one I got was great. The second I jumped at too soon and paid too much for one that had a lot more use. I bought the coupling kit from a dealer for around $120 or $130. The skids averaged $250...the one I have in the RX was about $230 including shipping. Have patience...live through another couple rides if you have to, to take the time to find a really good skid. I had to be impatient...my W arm was in pieces, so I used a skid I had already bought to fix up my ZRT. Now the ZRT is sitting in the back of my old truck with no skid...but the RX rides like a Caddy and corners like a Ferrari.

Be sure to check all of the salvage sites. There is a huge one in Utica NY, but I don't remeber the name. Plus Poo had M10's in the 02 and 03 sleds. I have a M10, that was actually a Poo skid and the dealer didn't tell me, only difference was the wheel design and the front spring, but my spring was the correct one, so all I had to do was change the wheels for the right color. Another tip: to change the colors of w arms and springs, instead of paint which will chip, PLASTIDIP comes in a spray can in several colors at lowes. I changed all of mine to black, this stuff is like rubber, wont chip off.

Maybe it wasn't the right one for you. LOL

I'm stuck on the EDGE skid, because I'm familliar with it, and I couldn't agree with you more on the crappy ride of the '03 and '04's. In fact, I'm tired of getting beat to crap and lagging way behind the group too - takes me back to when I had a '90 Jag 440 and my friends all had newer, bigger sleds. My wife and I had to give-up and head home after the first 1/4 mile.

Thing is I have a 98 MXZ 500 and if I had known the trail where going to be goat trails I would have brought that. The suspension works pretty good on that one.... HMMMMM you think my GF will notice if I swap them out LOL
