06 apex gt with elec ohlins. Need some clarification. Right now.....set at the stock 20 clicks out......the susp tends to buck me off on rebound. Manual uses the terms "soft and hard".....these are confusing to me. I want the rebound to be "slower" to stop the ejecto seat......so does this mean softer or harder......clicks in or out?
Also the rebound knob on said rear shock , doesnt click anymore. Just a smooth turn with no disernable click sound or feel. Is this a problem or should i not be concerned?

I think the manual refers to "harder" as slower rebound but in general when the knob is turned clockwise (looking from that end of the shock) it will slow down the rebound (harder) and turning counter clockwise will speed up rebound (soften).

You need to set the rebound stiffer, if it dont click anymore thats a sign that it needs to be rebuilt.

If you suspend the rear of the sled, will the rebound click?

I always had trouble getting through a full season with my Ohlins EC and not losing the seal. I finally gave up and switched to the KYB from the standard Mono. Once valved properly this shock worked just as well, with better durability.

I experienced the same issue as stubby with my ohlins. Got tired of yearly failure losing rebound clicks requiring rebuild. Looking forward to trying the standard kayaba shock this season.

Since iv owned my apex some 2 years now and even before Iv always been under the assumption that the ohlins rear in my 06 gt was far superior to all other shocks available. I desperately need, due to an extreme case of disc degeneration disease , the softest ride possible if i plan to stay in this sport at all.....so the question that begs an answer is , is there a better riding/ softer shockthat wont cost $1500 that can replace it with? Im not a rich man.....ins co. sees to that so i cant afford to rebuild this damn shock every season yet really love its adjustability and when adj properly lets me enjoy my dream machine if only for a short while. So what do i do? Plus rebuilding it will take weeks for it to return as im way up north in Ontario and i cant stand it to be down that long.

The wifes vector with the standard kayab shock setup and revalved rides great. Plush with no bottoming. Im sure the longer foot print helps some but its a set and forget setup that doesnt have the down time the ohlins does. I would think you could pick up one of those shocks cheap have it rebuilt and revalved to your liking and have just as good ride as the ohlins. I got a shock from an 09 vector rebuilt and revalved for under 400$. Looking forward to trying it out this year.

I would talk to Hygear about rebuilding your shock with a revalve to your weight and a twisted spring dual rate setup. I have these on both of my Vectors and the ride is so much better that the standard Mono shock. If you want the best setup have them add a remote reservoir with Hi/lo compression. I'm thinking it will come in under 750.00 with the remote Reservoir.

so no clicks on the rebound adj is a %100 needs a rebuild or could it be just something broken in the knob itself kuz other then that it operates exactly as it should. It was rebuilt and revalved to me last year. If it is infact time to rebuild it so soon then its time for a change. Screw that noise.

No clicks = rebuild time. Like I said, did that dance every year for many, and then gave up on it. I might have a spare KYB that’s already valved with a progressive stack and only has 1 season on a fresh rebuild. PM me if you are interested.

Hygear does a great job with the dual rate spring keeping the ride plush but resisting bottoming. You could try to find another monoshock, used, like say from BOP, and send that out, so you can still ride, or even ask Travis...he may have some ideas for the way you ride.Since iv owned my apex some 2 years now and even before Iv always been under the assumption that the ohlins rear in my 06 gt was far superior to all other shocks available.
