Need some help with this one. Started the sled last night just for fun. Smoke started coming from under the seat. Took the seat off and could'nt find anything. Smoke coming from under the gas tank. Ran the sled on a stand and noticed the center pipe of the header was cherry hot. I gave it a shot of water from the hose to put the fire out. It smelled like it was burning leaves. Can mice get in and past the muffler and into the header? What to do next?
Thanks, Dustin

take the muffler off on pin it .............:)

Yes mice can get in the exhaust and cause issues, although I'm not sure if they can make into the header past a stock muffler.
Also since you mentioned that it smelled like burning leaves, debries (grass, twigs, leaves, etc) can work it's way into the enclosed area where the header attaches to the stub pipes. Once in there it can burn when the exhaust gets hot and smell similar to burning brush/grass.
At the end of the season I usually will pull the seat and the top heat shield, then vacuum out any debries.
This is more common if you have been riding in a lot of low snow conditions, where you can see tall grass sticking up through the snow.

If the pipe is glowing red then its plugged on the inside not stuff under the heat shield right?
