Ok - I have done more research on this than anything I have ever bought but I am ordering a FX Nytro. I have had many Artic Cats and have waited the past four years for them to catch up and sadly I just dont believe they are in the same ball game. I was close to buying a skidoo but my research has dug up a long list of negatives. Back in the mid 80's I bought a Yamaha SRX (the one with a flip up headlight) and was plagued with problems and swore I would never return to Yamaha but my research says I should. The FX Nytro has actually got me excited and I know alot has changed in the last 20 years so I am diving in! My last trip up North was warmer than usual and my sled ran rich and gave off strong exhaust fumes that burned my eyes, wont miss that! I may have to buy a new suite just to get rid of the two smoke smell. Wish me luck!!!

I don't think you'll need it. I'm a skeptic, this sled is getting even more postive press than the Viper did. While that was a decent sled, it wasn't the be-all-end-all that it was made out to be. However, this sled looks to be the goods, and there are MANY things you are going to like about getting out of the 2-stroke world.

Congrats, man!

Welcome, I am sure you made a very solid choice. Congrats!!

Just a note: In the mid 80's that was a Vmax 540 with the flipup headlight. In 1981 it was the SRX 440 and in 1982 it was the SRX500, but hardly anyone had one of those(very rare). My Dad had a 1983 VMax 540 which was in US production from 1983 to 1987. It was a tempermental thing. Fortunately his was a screamer. but you had to be so careful with it. It had chrome lined cylinders and proper break in and warmup procedure was very criticle.

journeyman - wow - now I realize that I am old - my old Yamaha was an SRX 440, had crank problems, I bought it from a friend in 1984 and he had two cranks put in under warranty and I took out the last one when I went on my first trip. I put a Kohler engine in it and ran it for a few years.

2002 viper - I like the white and yellow. My dealer in our town hasnt gotten his pricing yet but I have been in there almost everyday. He will match any advertised price.

bullet- I have been through 8 Arctic Cats also and have had great luck with them. Only little things to work out and AC has always stood behind their product but I am sold on Yamaha and wont look back.

Silversurfer -Deltabox - Thanks for the encouragement, I am gonna need it with this group I ride with -I will be the first crossover.

I had one that was a piece of junk, But the rest were good running machines. My last one was a 2000 ZL600EFI. Left me stranded once when the clutch totally came apart. She was a real smoker also :4STroke:

Don't worry about that, you might be the first but you probably won't be the last! And besides take heart in knowing you aren't the only convert out there. Quite a few of us 4-stroke yammies you see came over from one of the other big 3!

Congrats!

If you are wearing a Cat suit, just get it cleaned and wear it. Just a thought LOL!!!

It's good advertising and says it all. LOL

This is my brother is his Doo suit on his 06 Attak.

He loves it, especially when he smokes a Doo Guy.

Enjoy your new FX Nytro!

Welcome to the site! ;)!

Lol I wear the exact same suit and I drive a 07 RTX.

It matches the 07 RTX a bit better than the 06 red Attak. I still have my entire blue Yamaha team outfit that I ride on my red 06 Apex. I'm sure I look ridiculous, but I'm not willing to go out and spend $500 or more on new get-up when the old stuff works!

I like my Attak GT which is now an Apex LTX GT & $1000 more. I see it as a more practical selection for my riding style (Long cruises, local trails, off-trail).

Hmmm... Decisions...decisions...??? You would-be converts sure have a nice selection to choose from though, and I envy you for that. They keep getting faster and lighter, but a bit more pricey, the longer you wait.

Good luck!

I feel ya on that one. I bought my yamaha last year and im the only one with a 4 stroke. I feel kinda left out lol everyone else rides an F7 or Rev. I hear everyday that oh its to heavy this and to heavy that, Rev this and rev that, oh ski doo did this. Now with the new Rev XP coming out its been relentless the past 2 weeks!!! Sometimes it unbearable to hear. I wish they would just give it a chance rather than be closed minded on the whole situation.

Get the new Nytro I'm sure you'll love it!!! Even tho i get ragged on all the time i'm still happy with my apex :)

This coming season with the intorduction of the Nytro FX and the New REV I would have a very hard time understanding why anyone would even look at a Arctic Cat or Polaris. Cat could end up being a bigger loser than Polaris in this whole chain of events...Their (cats) new chassis may ride nice but why would anyone buy a 2-stroke cat over that ultra light weight Doo? And with Yamaha introducing 2 light weight 4-strokes that can bring the mail in the rough stuff, They have a stranglehold on that market. (not to mention Yamaha's industry leading quality and fit & finish) Polaris seems to have been in a "no mans land" the last couple of years and Maybe they have something trick coming out....But I'm not holding My breath. Someone made a post a couple of weeks ago about the sled industry being a 2 horse race........I'd say that sums it up at the moment.

Oh by the way welcome aboard bajabobf5 ;)!
