Anyone know what brand spring Allen uses in the stage 2 clutch kit for the Sidewinder LTX? It's a red spring and with the 42/36 helix it gets wrapped at 9+1 100 degrees. I've heard it may be a cat spring but nothing I found supports that claim. Any help would be appreciated thanks

From what he told me it’s a custom spring. I run mine at 9-2 per Allen’s latest suggestion. My original spec sheet had 9-1.

R u running his 42-36 helix?
Running the STM in his stage 2 setup. Don’t recall what it’s stamped as. I’ll have to check next weekend when I’m home. Allen did say it acts like a steeper angle than it’s stamped.

No I'm running a Dalton 41/35 Helix and Dalton weights now. I was wondering if anyone had the specs of the spring thinking of trying it with my setup and see how it performs compared to the dalton blk/org secondary spring. I know I'll have to wrap the red spring at 9+1 or 9+2. DMC Turbo I know we have talked a few times privately and I know you also ran Ulmers kit at one point have you tried the red spring with a different helix? I just picked up a dalton 39/35 reverse helix also to try anyone had any luck with that helix on tuned winders? I'm clutching for TD Max Spool 17. Im also switching out the Ulmer pink primary spring and I have a Dalton blk/blue or blk/grn to try in the primary. Gonna start with just switching the primary spring for now but wanna try the red secondary at some point too. Anyone else tried the red in a different helix than the Ulmer 42/36? Thanks and ride safe everyone

I ran that Ulmer Red spring last year on my 2017 LTX with a 1.6 ice cobra, I got the least amount of clutch heat using that spring but felt there was a better option. Set up last year was Red spring wrapped at 9-1, stock helix, Dalton blk green in primary with DTAY 1 weights, running TD Max Spool 17. This year Im running a 2018 with a 1.75 Backcountry track, more heat in the clutches running it tuned. Currently still trying different combos but making some headway with the following, DnD Grey spring wrapped at 9-1 on stock helix, Dalton blk green with STM weights loaded at 83 grams (heel heavy).

Ulcer uses the red spring and the helix in his kit because he tested and found this had gains.

Did you end up running Ulmers spring?

I'm going to try it this year. Allen told me 9-1 was equivalent to 50 degrees, 9-2 60 degrees and 0-1 70 degrees when comparing to the stock spring.

I'm running a yamaha O-S-O, DTYA1s, and the 41/35 to go along with Ulmers red spring.

Also changed primary rollers to the 14.8 thunder rollers.

Curious to know how it worked for you.

Thanks,

DMC

MDGFLHR if you purchased a kit from Ullmer I would install it per his directions and any questions after that should be directed to Allen. He knows his sh!t and a lot of time and testing go into his kits, way better than anything you or someone else just throw together. A lot of guys on here saying this will work and that will work. Not necessarily true, if you bought a complete clutch kit from Allen put it back in and go with it.
