LazyBastard said:07 ExpertX, accorting to adboivin website, comes with DTR (like previous years 144"+ skids, including mine). You may notice that the DTR puts a shaft across in that position, so you already have one. No need to add what you've already got.1CrazySledder said:I just baught a new 2007 expert X skid. Maybe I better put that bar in there and not worry about anything? Where did you get the bar and what grade bolts did you use as replacements?

In this picture, all the GOLD stuff is the DTR (except for the transfer rod, which is there anyways).
Then I've been short changed, because I do not have that on my suspension. I better give them a call.

Yeah, I already called the dealer I baught it from. He's calling them tomorrow to see what's going on. I'd hate to have to buy it. What exactly does this little system do. I remebeer you told me once, but I forgot. I'm getting older. lol

It keeps the transfer constant and predictable, regardless of conditions. Set the transfer the way you like it and thats the way it is. Easy to adjust though, if you want to change it. I keep my transfer set on maximum - it wheelies predictably, and doesn't backflip.

I still wonder about using the Snowhawk 3rd shock design in place of the transfer bar and DTS.

It's been tried and was employed on some touring (2-up) applications for the original Expert. It made the skid better at absorbing the odd "surprise" bump that could overcome the skid and bottom it out if it really hammered the front part of the rail. The thing is, what you gain in bottoming resistance, you lose in the suspension's ability to react almost instantaneously to minor terrain changes (4-8" bumps) without that shock, which in my opinion is what you encounter on 90% of groomed trails.
The Snow Hawk's Expert Xtreme is a rising rate skid and beacuse that suspension can travel SO much and the damping it provides is weaker at the start of its suspension stroke, it needs the center shock to take that initial hit. The regular Expert X is a falling rate design, so the third shock is not really needed.

I guess this is how you discover that you were sold a leftover 06. :ORC

The first picture shows the two bolts that snapped off and the second picture shows the thrid shaft that I installed.
This is a good mod. Aaron Excell of Excell Motorsports in NY state has been installing these on every Expert X that goes out the door as a "just in case" effort. He just orders up an extra dynamic stopper shaft, bushings and bolts when he orders the skids, so you really don't have to make up a shaft to do this mod.
