Removed rear suspension

Removed rear suspension to inspect, all wheel bearings and bushings. Not a single bearing needed replaced, all looked good. Removed the old grease and repacked. Bushings in excellent shape. Replaced hyfax while out. 05 Vector with 1400 miles. Yamaha builds a great product.

With all that I read about junk wheels, bearing and bushings, I must have gotten a good one. I do ride hard, but I do not abuse my sled. I think alot of what I read is from lack of maintenance and abuse. Just my 2 cents.

The only thing bad on mine are those inner idler wheels. They are so worn from the studs that when you rotate them by hand there are areas that do not come close to contacting the track then they will touch again. Nowhere near round.

05 Vector w/ 1000 miles. Hyfax still has plenty of life in it. Ride it pretty hard. I also think it's a great product, but these wheels did not go bad from abuse or neglect. I think hard plastic wheels with no rubber tread was not one of their better ideas.

EXACTLY my situation! I had my wheels replaced way early on long before Yamaha even recognized the problem. Mine actually began bending!

I wish they WOULD recognize the problem and make direct replacement rubberized wheels available. I think it's just dealer discretion whether or not you get replacements covered under warranty, because as far as I know Yamaha says it's a maintenance item.

I'm not ready to do any machining to make something else fit. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Yamaha to do the right thing.

I have 2300 miles on my 05 Warrior and pulled my rear skid because of the reports of bushings going bad within one year. The bushings looked near perfect. The only ones that really showed any sign of wear were the bushings on the front mounting shaft, so I replaced them at $6 total. I grease very often.

I did have a 4 wheel bearings that felt rough so I replaced them.

You guys that have replaced the plastic wheels with the rubber coated wheels, have you had problems with the rubber delaminating? I am about to do this on both my RX-1 and the wife's Vector, the wheels will be here this weekend. I just want to know if I am heading for another problem...

Yeah I agree I did the same with my 05 Vector this year and nothing needed replacement . All bearings were a-ok!

I'm real curious about the change to rubber wheels. The only thing on my suspension that needs replacing due to wear are the idlers. I don't want to do a bunch of machining to make something else fit. I've heard of using '06 wheels, and there also was a post on HCS from a guy that worked at a dealer that said they were doing this on the '05's. I inquired, but never got a response from him. I asked my dealer about it and they didn't know.

Does anyone know if there is a direct replacement rubberized idler wheel that we can use on our '05's??? maybe from a Venture or something?

According to the guy on HSC, the 06 wheels are rubberized and a direct bolt on. Is this true? Anybody else try this?
