For those of you that did paint and powder coat work on the front end were there any issues or special tools required to separate the ball joints form the spindles? Sled is not here yet but I am getting ready.
Thanks

no special tools just multiple size metric wrenches. need to remove side shields to access top back bolts on a arm on each side. also take out torx on the front of the bottom front alum plate (these hold on the rubber boot.) pop out a couple pushins that hold the rubber boot on the bottom to access the bottom front a arm bolts. be sure to remember which way the bushings are facing on the bottom a arm. one side is larger. the rubber boot will stretch to remove a arm but is tight. i did not remove the ball joints from the a arms they seem to be pressed in i taped them off. the bolt of the ball joint is tapered into the spindle. i loosened the nut and tapped it out with a brass rod and a large hammer. mine where in very tight. but came. be sure to tape the spindle holes so the tapper stays true. jack up and remove shocks first. good luck hope to see pics. i did mine white.

Thanks, I guess that's what I expected. Those taper locks can be tough, hopefully they come apart pretty easy. Thinking either white a arms with blue spindles, or blue with white, or blue a arms with silver spindles. Sled is coming Wed, I guess Ill decide then.

I'm going with white a-arms and blue spindles if my XTX ever shows up...should look hot with my all white C&A's!!

blue and white will look awesome. especially with the skis. anyone think about making a 2 faced colored sled like cat did last year. crossed my mind but then decided on all white. got the mock up for the stickers today can kinda see the white shield in the pics. i also painted the screen on the radiator under the hood.

Love the white paint on the grate over the radiator! Is that a white cat windshield? You got a pic of the front showing the windshield?

ya its a stock ws off of a green/wht zr 7000 sno-pro ordered from country cat. dont have pics from the front yet, took it to get stickered the same day the ws came in. will post some and with the stickers when i get it back. hope this week.

To remove the ball joint from the spindle you need to pull up on the joint while you crack the side of the spindle with a hammer. The metal will deform momentarily allowing you to pull out the ball joint. Beating on the ball joint is not a good idea for obvious reasons. If you are concerned about the finish (if not using a dead blow hammer) protect the area first with masking tape.
