Hey Guys,

I installed a MBRP exhaust system on my 07 Apex (I replaced the exhaust donuts with copper ones while I was in there... that was fun lol) I purchased this sled with it already having a clutch kit. Previous owner swears by Dalton clutching. It engages really high close to 5,000 rpm and screams to 11,000 rpm. Since installing the exhaust it hits rev limiter a WOT but still pulls hard.

Do I need to get a PC5? I attached pictures of my clutch if it helps.

Hope everyone got out to ride a bit today!

By the looks of your pics you’ve got the Dalton Quick Adjust weights. The body of the weight is threaded, so adding weight (which is what you need to do to stay off the limiter) is really simple. I’d thread another couple grams in each weight and go from there.

What stubby said.
I'm not sure that your question about the pc5 is related to your issue with the rev limiter. The pc5, when programmed with the correct map will give you added response, slightly better mileage, and maybe a hp or 2. But, it does not affect the rpm limit.

What Macheater said. The over revving is due to adding the MBRP exhaust (ie. exhaust is now less restrictive) and you need to add weight to the tips of your Dalton primary clutch weights to bring down those rpms. Adding a PC5 would not address that. However, although you can run the clutch kit w/o the PC5, adding it along with an ignition module to advance the timing (the 06-10 Apex's liked more sparked whereas one is not needed on my 18) IMO definitely improves performance. At least that was my experience with running @Srxspec (Ulmer Racing's) package (ie. primary/secondary clutch kit, PC, & Ignition module).

I too was running the MBRP exhaust and really liked it. Thought the sound was similar to the Whiteknuckle QC-1 exhaust I'm running on my RX-1. Although the guys I rode with never complained about the QC-1, they thought the MBRP was louder so decided to revert back to stock and had to do the opposite of what you need to do; remove weight from the tips. ;)!
