Was riding in deep powder yesterday. WOT. The RPMs kept droping off. Maybe a couple hundred RPM. A few seconds later they would come back up. I'm trying to figure out if I'm hitting the rev limiter or if it's not back shifting. Other rev limiters I've experienced have been very abrupt. Like the ignition was being cut off. What I'm feeling here is very subtle. Just a slight drop in RPM and then it comes back up. Then it does it all over again as long as I hold the throttle open. Never had this happen on hard pack.

If the tach isn't showing over 12,300 then you are not hitting the limiter. In deep snow I find that I LOOSE about 500-700rpm with the machine lugging through the snow. It may also be a dirty clutch issue where the secondary isn't operating smoothly and it lugs a bit before it backshifts.
