Done some searching on the site and can't seem to find anything even related to the reverse set-up. I'm wondering if anyone has, knows of, or can make a video on how to take apart, and put back together a gearbox with the yamaha reverse kit. Last time we did it something got screwed up and we had to send it to the dealer which in turn cost a lot. Need to change the track now and am going at it myself again, would like to have some help if anyone has any. Thanks in advance for any advice.

That is pretty helpful so thanks for your time. However it doesn't help me with my biggest problem; which is putting the gears back in correctly and getting the cover back on. With the reverse lever I know there is a trick to getting it on the right way without much effort but I'm not sure how to do it.

Just watch how everything comes off and keep them that way for the install. Some guys even zip tie the parts together in the right order. Use the exploded diagram in the Yamaha Parts Finder to double check. Here's another link with some info:

Take pictures too. Remember the gears go back in with the beveled edge facing out. (I put them backwards once and things didn't exactly work out too well)

As far as getting the arm to work correctly I don't remember it being too difficult. It just went in, then the cover went on and it worked.

But really, try taking pictures of each step along the way. Take your time. Don't force things.

when taking things apart i lay down a towel and place everything exactly in the order it came off. that way i just go in reverse and i cant mess anything up. honestly the reverse fork is easy. you read alot of these forums
about how hard it is. it can be frustrating at times, but i bet it wouldnt take you 10 minutes to get the hang of sliding it in the notch. you cant see it when you are putting it on, but you can "feel" it slide in.

I have a Go-Pro HD Hero 2 camera so I'm thinking about wearing it during the take down process that way when I'm putting it back together I can check the video. Last time we did it my dad and one of his buddies did the gear part and they put one in backwards which resulted in me blowing all the bearings and what not all over again. Safe to say I will be doing it myself this time and taping off the side of the shed with police tape. No one will be fooling with the order of those gears this time hahaha.
