You guys are thinking of sleds that have heat exchangers in the tunnel, ours doesn't. Nothing but an exaust pipe up there so the snow flap has nothing to do with keeping the sled cool.schoppy said:The flap keeps the snow inside the tunnel to cool the sled especially in marginal snow conditions.

Hey Mighty, mine looks just like that one your showing but unfortunately I don't have a camera to show it here
You will have to have a little faith in the ability of others 8) It's not a difficult thing to cut that original flap with the same exact contour! The objective is to prevent the nuisance that the original length presents getting stuck up in your tunnel. I'm not really too concerned how great the Flap looks anyway, although there is no issue with the way it looks if you take your time and cut it precisely 8) The dang thing is always covered with snow
I guess some might even Chrome there Flap

I took a look at my flap, and if I cut it 3 inches up, that would cut the YAMAHA logo in half. Do I have a different flap? If I cut just below the logo, I don't think it will help much.

I also cut my original off just as a temporary measure as I was disgusted with the lack of thought by installing these long flaps on a model with reverse. I eventually put the short one on like shown in Mighty's photo. Looks much better IMO.
The difference between cutting the long one off and replacing it with a proper length one is that by installing the shorter one you have the formed angled edges that help it retain it's shape while under way instead of just flapping away. Either way will work though, just personal preferrence. Cutting the long one is definitely less expensive if you're happy with the results. I personally do not care for the looks of the ribs molded into the stocker, as the rear of the sled already looks a little "busy" to me. The smooth one offers a cleaner appearance.

That's my point Starry Knight, I'm not saying guys can't cut a straight line, I'm saying they'll cut into the logo and the flap will look wierd IMHO. More good points twomorestrokes. thanks guys!
