On 3 occasions I've experienced a loud bang when going in reverse. I stop the sled immediately. The sled feels like it locked or bound at that point. But I'm too chicken to rev it and try again to know for sure. I put the lever back in the forward position and it runs and moves forward just fine.

Others have talked about grinding noises in reverse which may require linkage adjustments, but I'm not hearing any grinding. Just a loud bang! Would slipping out of reverse cause this, even if the reverse lever was still in "beeping" position?

I've checked the chain tension and reverse linkage. all in spec. The chain case oil looks good, and no metal filings.

I have an appointment with the dealer, but curious if this has happened to others.

thanks!

Linkage adj is critical. Mine did something similar after track change and thought I did something wrong. Adjustment was the fix

Did you check the bolt that hold the linkage to the chaincase is tight? If the linkage is loose you will not be able to change gear properly.

I checked the gaps on the vertical and horizontal adjuster bolts per the service manual. I also made sure the lock nuts were tight. I did not specifically check the bolt that attaches the linkage to the chain case. The sled is at the dealership. I'll post the results of their investigation. Thanks for the idea's.

My apex did that when it was new. Dealer adjusted the linkage, now its all good.

Ill see if I can find the reverse adjustment document. See attachment, hopefully I did it right and you can see it, lol.
