Does anyone have a problem with the reverse button being unresponsive? Very annoying when trying to get out of an area . I have to shut off the engine and start it again and then the button will work . My friend has the same problem with his . Anyone else have this problem ?

Just don't use it then ;)!

Haven't had any problems with mine but the best one/ most reliable I had was the mechanical lever on my Arctic Cat.

So it's an issue with the button not working rather than an engagement issue? Does it beep or blink or just does not respond at all?

well most times it dont engage so i jump and rock it back and forth until it does . But what im talking about is the button dont work at all . i can push it hard as i wants still no response . when i shut er down and refire it will work again . its almost like a software problem and not a button problem. My buddy noticed the same with his . So im not the only one

mine does this as well from time to time, of course i only use reverse if i'm in trouble otherwise i think i've used it maybe 20 times since i've had the machine (going on 4th year)

That's a different problem then with the button. As for the reverse not engaging, I know Yamaha has been installing a newer type servo motor on some.

i had that happen to me when i first bought the sled. then, hasn't happened since. i've read that having the rpm's 2800 or less helps.

i always had this problem. it was caused by the button on the meter not grounding properly. i disconected the button on the meter and installed my own in the blank port to the left of the riser block with a good ground and havent had a problem after

I had this happen to me recently. While the sled was idling for a long time because my kid's Doo died and was using the headlight, it wouldn't do anything when I pushed the button. No blink or anything, just stayed on the green D. I did notice that the fan was running. It is quite possible that the ECU won't allow the shift into reverse because of the high electrical demand of the fan. The ECU also cuts power to the rear handwarmers while the fan is running so I can see this happening with the electrical reverse. After towing the Doo out, it shifted into reverse fine.

Mine does the same thing it will occasionally just not work easy solution, pull forward a few inches or a foot works for me every time. Also NEVER try to slam on the brakes or try to engage while brakes are on I can never shift into reverse if brakes are applied

What you're talking about is when you push the button, the R light flashes and won't shift unless you lift the rear of the sled or jump up and down. What the OP says is that NOTHING happens when he pushes the button. No flashing light or anything.

2800 is high for shifting; maybe at idle would be better, i.e. 1700 - 1800rpm.
