My 07 Phazer won't shift into reverse. I checked the fuse, and it is good. When I press the switch on the console, nothing happens - I can hear/feel the switch depressing, but nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks for any help...

Hey Parkstrom sounds exactly what was happening to my 07 Mountain Lite. After a year in & out of the dealer it was found to be a throttle positioning sensor. There is an adjustment on the sensor that has to be set to a certain ohm and I don't know what that is but it was a faulty sensor that was bad anyway. The tip on the fix came from a Factory Race Tech.
Mine would actually work periodically and then do nothing like yours they changed relays, fuses, reverse motor, wiring harness, fork in chain case and then they replaced throtle positioning sensor and has been great since. Thank goodness for the warranty during that period and hope this helps you if your out of wasrranty.

Just pull up on the rear grab bar. It'll go in then.

i think hes sayin it wont even try to go in. like he hits the button and it stays in forward and the reverse light doesnt even start flashing. if theres one thing yamaha needs to take from ski-doo its their reverseRuckus said:Just pull up on the rear grab bar. It'll go in then.

noticed the same here. all i did was lower the idle down a little to my liking. i noticed that it only engaged when it was below 3k rpms. before when it was warm it idled at 24-2600. now it's around 19-2000 rpms.

looks like there is 3 relays and a fuse - not sure which one it is - 37,38 and 39 try switching them around and see if that changes it.

Just saying it had nothing to do with rocking the machine back and forth, it had already been answered...the switch is not even trying to engage.
No biggie.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Ya its something in the electrical cause like a few of you have pointed out, pressing the switch does nothing, so its not even trying to engage. I'll try the throttle sensor and check the relays, and maybe have a look at the switch, and let you all know if I figure out where the gremlin is.

Take off the belt and start the engine and see if the reverse will work. My reverse works fine without the belt. I have tried change the belt to another but it will not work OK. I hope Yami vill change the reverse problem in to the same as nytro and vector.Parkstrom said:Thanks for the advice everyone.
