Just heard about the big avy at the big iron shootout at revelstoke.At least 2 yammie reps were out there; Lakeracer(Jim manning) & Randy swenson(climbmax). Heard there were 3 deaths & numerous injuries!!!
Lets hope for the best!
There are usually over 200 people out there at this shootout!!!

Randy is in Mexico and I am safe & sound in Winnipeg (Yamafest is scheduled for the end of March in Revy).

Horrible tragedy, and I can't begin to imagine how hard last night was for those missing loved ones.

Hoping for the best as searching continues today.

Glad to hear no one from here is hurt or worse. This is going to put some new rules in place for events like this in the future and maybe for the good of events like this. From what I read the possibility of avalanche was very high.

Where do you draw the line at 'event', 'gathering', 'sancioned', etc??

Everyone goes there at this time of year and it's nicknamed 'Big Iron Shootout'. Why does it need a license? etc....

I was thinking more of having some avalanche professionals hired to blast and trigger potential avalanches prior to the event.
