Just happened the other day, could it have come disconnected? if so I haven't followed the wires yet, where abouts does it plug in? Thanks for any advice!

In the thorottle block. They don't come unplugged, but they do fail. I lost one on my LTX and both on XTX. Pretty easy fix, but it requires new grips, and new warmers. Was covered under warranty. There is a test procedure in the service manual to confirm its dead.

What @SnoNinja said. There is a connector for the grip warmer element inside the throttle block. The wires from that connector then run over to the left side where the switches are, connectors there also. Then it would run down inside the sled. The service manual has a procedure for checking the warmer element (resistance spec for both the low and high portions of the element). And the service manual has a procedure for checking the switch itself. The manual tells you what connector pins to check for proper operation of the switch.

Has anyone found a way to rivet the grip/warmer so it doesn't move or break like the apex grips? I've heard there's a way, but I'm going to replace my second grip/warmer after off trail riding and not turning warmers off.

I didn't rivet, but I did use spray adhesive as a lubricant to slid grip over element. Gave it a reasonable cost, and it lets the grip slip on pretty easy, and then dries keeping the grips from twisting. Hairspray works well also.
