Seeing what Shagman, Nos Pro, Yamahaguys and others can do in the powder with the cobra, I wanted a little more lug without going to 1.75 as I ride trails too often. They are all 141 uncoupled vs. my 137 coupled, but for me it was always a momentum game off trail. I need to be able to slow down to pick lines in the trees without fear of sticking the sled. I thought the Ripsaw 2 was good on the trail, just not quite enough off trail. Looking at the two side by side, I think the cobra 1.6 will give me the same or better on trail traction and side bite with the wavy paddles and stiff towers, as well as better off trail traction with the more aggressive and taller lug profile. My bet is on the cobra. So seeing the two which do you feel would have the better hook up unstudded?
I haven't run a studded track since went to a taller lug on my 1997 sx600 back in 1999. I don't see me ever going back to studs.

I always ran unstudded with the exception being my final sled before I quit in 2000, my XC 500 SP. I have the scars on the shop floor to show it. Contemplating the ice cobra to give her a little extra sense of security, but I'm still undecided. The original Ripsaw that is on the Gade is a sorry excuse for a track. The little flexible tickler nubs on the tips make it more like a broom than a lug.

I have little off trail experence but my pre studed trak is awesome on trail and every time i have gone off trail I have not gotten stuck and i have even tried by going good and brakeing hard and burring the sled and it just pops back out could be mostly the sled but I have no complaints with prestudded and i run a 1"lug

Well, I made the choice to give the Ripsaw II 1.5" a try. Here it is .... Gonna be a few weeks until I get around to installing it though.
One thing I noticed about it is the lug pattern. Whereas the shape of the lugs are the same as the 1.25, the pattern of the lug layout is different.
