Hi guys,

I just bought a brand new '07 YAMAHA APEX RTX ER!!!! So far I love it! There's been a few things here and there...but overall this sled is awesome! :4STroke:

On all my sleds I've put riser blocks on them...I'm 6'2.5" tall and stand up 75% of the time. So I need something tall...my buddy and I measured from the bottom of the stock riser block to where I put my hands (a desired spot). He measure the block would need to be between 10-12" for me to be comfortable.

I was wondering what the apex "mountain" sleds were...what size?

Also...what do you guys use?

If the apex mountain riser block isn't tall enough, then I was going to consider a Powermadd pivot kit and an 8" or 10" riser block. For the guys that have the pivot kit...does still allow you to use the chrome/plastic piece that goes around the stock riser?

Thanks guys you've been a big help in the past and love this site! :rocks:

John

I put on a 2" Rox riser. You can go to a 3.5 " and still use the stock cables as per this site. You can also move the bars forward or back depending on what your looking for. Rich motorsport fixed me up. One of the sponsors.

How much for the 2" pivot kit? And does it work with the stock chrome piece that goes around the stock riser block?

Thanks

Here is what I have.

Still have the chrome piece. The riser mounts at the top of the stock riser and then your bars mount to the rox riser. That way you can find any angle you like, bars forward or back and with the angle you like. I also took 10 minutes and a knife and made the stock bar pad fit the rox riser. The bars do have a rivet in them to I guess hold the bars in the middle but with the rox riser being wider it throws off the center. I took a small drill bit and drilled the rivet out so I can center the bars with the rox riser.

What's nice about the 2" or 3.5" is they work with the stock cables. I had no problem with the 2" and I remember reading guys on here that had the 3.5 with stock cables. I did take the throttle cable out of the top holder on the stock riser so it would have a more gentle bend but that was it. I'm 6'1" and really like the height. We hit lots of road approches and it's really nice to see the other side. When I do long rides I bend the bars back to make it more of a sit down ride. Nice to have that adjustment. A 12 mm wrench has you forward or back in less then two minutes on the trail. Good luck and enjoy the sled, love my RTX.

Yea, I can't wait to go on some trips with my RTX!!!

Do you think I'll need a throttle cable or brake cable extension if I go with the 5" rox riser?

Have a look at your cables. I would say for sure get the throttle cable longer, it seemed to be the worse for added a riser. The brake line and the electrical wires didn't seem to be so bad. There was extra that you could pull up but the throttle for sure will need a extension. For a long distance hauler I don't think you could find a better sled. My best day was 380 miles, left at 8:00 and got home at 7:00 and stopped at a friends for almost 2 hours. Got up the next day and did another 100 more with the girlfriend. Never could do that on my ski-doo.

I provide a custom billet bar riser that provides a total of 8.5" of rise from the steering post mount to the handlebar. It's polished billet aluminum and might be just what you are looking for.

See link in my signature for details.

i have a 2" rip and grip iso vibe. 2" is plenty tall as i am 5' 10". iso vibe takes alot of the shock out of hard bumps.

I posted a stock set of risers blocks from a '07 RTX. Stack them and get up to 12"

Pretty cheap for $40.00

I have a rox 2 inch like the ones above on my phazer, great investment, super easy install.

They are also marketed as powermadd(but those are black)
RSIracing is where I got mine

I never knew that the 06 apex riser was 1.5inch shorter then the 07 apex riser, and yet the 07 riser is still not tall enough for me as i am 6'2'' so i think i am going to go ahead and buy the 2 inch rox riser for my 07 GT.

Anyone know where i can find one in canada?
