I finally got my chance to ride the machine that a lot of people have mentioned, so I'll give you my take on it copared to the rx-1.

1. BUMPS: I'll take the rev on this one, only because of the seating position is that much easy to fully stand when you come up on hairy stuff. I don't feel my rx-1 takes it that bad but I'll give the edge to the rev.

2. POWER: I'll have to go with the rx-1 on this one and heres why, the power band is sooo smooth on the rx-1 from 0 to 100 it pulls steady, maybe I've been spoiled riding the rx-1 but I didn't like the power kicking in all at once, the rev does hit hard on the bottom but I thought it was too jerky, again maybe I'm spoiled with the 4-stroke

3. RIDE: the rev does ride smooth and handles the bumps well but I'm not sure I'd trade away the rx-1 just yet. I noticed more knee fatigue with the rev, but I'm not going to hold that against it yet because I'm not sure if it was from the knee bend or the fact that you can use your knees easier sitting that way. I'm very comfortable with the rx-1, I like it better than the rev. Also the rev felt awkward looking over the skis like that, but that most likely would get used to riding it full time.

4. RACE: unfortunately we did not get to go head to head yet, hopefully on our next trip, from riding both they seem equal. I think it will be decided in the hole-shot plus the longer the better for the rx-1

Just my opinion, I rode 2 revs, 30-40 miles through varying trail conditions. The rev is good in the bumps, no question but I'm definately not ready to jump ship at this point. The rx-1 is perfect for me.

knew I forgot something,

cornering: of the 2 revs (1 with 6" and the other with 8" carbides) both with 144 studs, the 8" cornered better than the 6". the skis seemed to track well but I did notice it would find ruts from other similar skis, not bad. the seating postion being over skis was awkward on corners, it gave me the allusion of tipping. I have 8" doolys/144 pics on my rx-1 and it does track very well with less "darting" I guess you would say than this particular rev. This is a tough call on this catagory because I think some of my issues may diminish over time riding it full time so its hard to say. I am more used to the rx-1 cornering so one of the biggest problems I had was letting off the gas expecting to slow up a bit then getting back on the gas and getting the jerky low end slam of the power band. Honestly I wouldn't take any points away from the rev but I'd have to stick with my rx-1. I think it would be very difficult to give up that smooth throttle. I think the weights of the sleds are a non-factor, the rx-1 feels to me as light as the rev. just my opinion

Rode a Rev HO this Weekend

Just did 2000 miles in 8 days in Quebec. Buddy had a New 2003 Blair Morgan 800 HO Rev. Spent some seat time on it.

This machine was awsome in the tight Twisty trail. But...... you do not want to be going far.
It is a Day rider(ditch banger).

It was no contest with my warrior and he is now looking for a warrior.

On piston alley it wasn't even close.

In a perfect world where money is no option, it would be sweet to have the REV to play around with on short trips and ditch bangin', but on the long ones, I definately agree, the RX is the one!

I also got to ride a brand new 800 ho this weekend. The rear skid and seat is awsome. The riding postion sucks for the 300 mile days we were doing. On the trails my 1 1/4 track gave me better yank and in the tight twisties I stayed right on his bumper 8) BTW, sign me up for a 2005 shorty :!:

I also drove my 1st 600 REV this weekend. My buddy wanted to try out my RX1 shorty, and I never rode a REV before, so what the heck. 3 hours later, I had terrible leg cramps and wanted my RX1 back. Had to beat him off my sled. No REV for me in the future. I will stick to riding my couch (RX1). :D

So greenmachine, is my opinion not worth anything because I only rode them 30-40 miles. I disagree, I think my report was accurate and I did not bash the rev. I think it has its good points, which I mentioned however I liked the rx-1 better.

Not bashing you, just a fact that it takes a full day of riding to get used to the new riding position. You cannot get an accurate feel for the new concept in a couple hours. Believe me I had one for a whole weekend and the first day I hated it. The second day I loved its' ride for the designed purpose but chose the F5 as the better all around sled. Mine was an 03 supposedly they corrected the front end for straightaway riding in the 04.

Over the past 3 years I have bought 8 sleds so the dealers give me the opportunity to really test their sleds.

Greenmachine I don't agree with ypur riide it for a day theory I rode a buddys 03 800 rev and loved it for the first 20mi trail was junk then we hit the groomed stuff and I wanted my Warrior back the Warrior is a much better position for the groomed stuff. also the Rev hurt my knees and my shins hit the cowling I don't think anyone over 6' tall will fit the sled well and be able to strech out.
