for around 18 miles. the guy was an idiot. He buys this nice sled with a 159" track and he didnt hit ONE sidehill nor did he stand up ONCE, even in the deep stuff. we had 15 miles of trail before the powder. every 5 miles he would stop and open his hood. We asked him why and he said he melted 2 airboxes already so he was stopping to let his engine cool down. 2 airboxes and he had 280 miles on the sled.... When we did get to the powder, he would go wide open the whole way and i would pass by him with EASE. He said his sled topped out at 73mph and polaris doesnt warranty track separation if you go over 70mph. i told him i can do 90mph easily with the sled still pulling hard.
Then we lost him. he went somewhere else alone. he was going full throttle down the trails so my friend with his 800RMK and i turned around.
Review of the 05 Mountain skis - awesome. Simply awesome. i can slam the brakes downhill in the powder and they still dont sink. The skis float awesome and turn great as well. I went places today that i wouldnt have gone before simply because of the skis. i knew i wasnt going to sink at all
Anyway, here is a pic from today right before we got to the powder. 900 Hood open, letting the motor cool a little bit. Both polaris guys in awe of my sled

The guy you rode with is an obvious idiot. I like my RX-1 mtn but my wife's 900 151 with out a doubt can hand me my arse on a hill. It tops out at 86 on the trail with me on it; like you said the RX-1 mtn has it beat easily there but I can get on the wife's sled and easily beat my own highmark. It's just a good thing she hasn't gotten to where she can ride like I do or I would look silly. A hair dryer (belt or exhaust driven :? ) and a 159" track for my sled will solve that problem though.

So far wife's sled hasn't melted anything except for the right side panel when she tipped it over and it touched the exhaust can. Almost 400 miles and she beats me in fuel mileage too.

we didnt go on any hills. he was obviously not a mountain rider because he didnt do anything in the powder. On the flat powder, wide open, i would pass him when i was doing around 45. i was topping around 65 in deep stuff today because in this spot we were going it was around 6" of loose so both tracks were getting a nice grip. We found some 2' of fresh powder, but he had left already

I ride with a lot of rmk's, cats etc. None get close to my gas milage 15 mpg on easy rides and 10 mpg in the steep and deep. What are you getting?

That picture is too funny. The guy on the RMK looking at the RX-1 in awe and the guy on the Switchback thinking "what the hell are doing with this guy on the RMK".

Re: BlgsRX1-Mtn gas milage
Do you ride different than I do (WFO all day long)? My sled is usually around 8 mpg riding in the deep stuff and about 12 MPG on the trails. The wife's 900 RMK gets better than 10 mpg in the deep and about 15 MPG on the trail.

i never got less than 11 mpg in deep at WOT all day long. It s where i see a difference with other. i get between 11 and 15 in every condition.
Even in sticky powder in warm temperature i never get less than 11. This is a chance, because 10 gal. tank, is'nt enough to start a party

I ride WOT most the time, 127.5 mains, stock filter, 8,500-12,700 feet. I have never heard of anybody getting less than 10 mph under any conditions. I have got 18 on trail rides with rookies, when I'm guiding.

Hmmm, Last ride we did was 43.7 Miles before we fueled up again. My sled took 5.1 gal wife's RMK used 4.5. Her bill with 91 octane was 20 cents less than my bill with 85.5 octane fuel. Stock jets, red holtzman springs, QC-1 ehaust and stock air box 7500-11,00 elevation. Her sled is stock except the SLP Can.
Only thing I can think of is maybe it's my fatass and gear ( me @ 245 dry about 285 with all gear) and my right ski might need a new base after catching a rock last year; I gouged it pretty good just ahead of the outer carbide (simmons ski). This was the conditions (see pic).

Hi Guys
I used to run 2 almost identical MM700 and my girlfriend used to use at least 1/3 less fuel all the time. The reason - she goes 1/2 throttle where ever she goes while the guys go WOT .
Now that I runn the RX 1 and she (Mod MM700) we use about the same amount of fuel per ride.
Problem is at WOT you use about double the fuel as at 1/2 throttle but you don't go twice as fast (specialy in the powder), I know because we never have to wait to long for them girls you can trust me on that one. The Girls we ride with are on average at least 80 pounds lighter than us guys also.
Time for some more light weight parts
