Hey guys I am thinking of putting the roller secondary off a Sidewinder onto my Viper and I was wondering if anyone has done it yet and how it worked out for them.

Not yet. I am definitely going to try it also. Primary too. Mine is wearing a bit.

Why specifically off from a sidewinder (primary)?

I ran and tested the Sidewinder roller secondary on the Viper and works good. Tested when I was NA and after installing turbo. I will add this.... you can't just buy a SW secondary for the Viper. Either you will need to get the bolt, washers that shim for belt deflection and the large washer to hold the secondary......or the easiest route would be buying a good belt adjuster like Thunder Products that works on both.

The Viper clutch uses 3 bolts on the back of the clutch to adjust belt deflection where the SW uses washers on the main bolt of the secondary clutch to adjust belt deflection.

Sidewinder primary is a brand new designed clutch that has changed the way the spider moves on flat pads instead of half-moon plastic pucks. The holes for the weights are in a different position now (Bolt Circle is different how the weights swing out).

Is the new primary in Sidewinder better than old one?

Remains to be seen but typical of this 3 cylinder which is missing the gear reduction that belongs on it. My primary is getting a groove right in middle from the 8DN and 10000 mi. Some guys with Winders have switched back to older Viper clutches so buying from them should be a good deal. If not I will just replace with new stock clutch. Might turn it down once but would rather leave it.

As far as shifting, how the weights shift and the clutch spider pads....I like the new primary. But I'm not confident that the SW clutch will hold up under power.

Okey! :) And what is better on the Viper, Thunder products encapsulated roller kit or Sidewinder roller secondary?

I have the encapsulated roller mounted on a 2011 Nytro secondary clutch. I like it. Think Thunder Products has a few left with helix's.

The SW roller works good on the viper with the stock helix, going to try other helix's. There is more of a selection of helix's with the SW. ***If you switch to the SW secondary, make sure you get a secondary adjuster...or you have to buy the washers, bolt and large washer to make the clutch work on the viper.
