My steering is hard and I have lubricated all the linkages and it help some but not much. It appears there are no grease fittings however there is a bushing near the front of the linkage. How do I know if that needs to be replaced? It looks like there is grease leaking out of it.

do you mean hard steering while you're riding or just hard to turn the skis in general?
I've noticed that my '07 Nytro is hard to steer when on a packed trail especially going into a turn. It's like the carbide grabs so much I have to muscle the bars to get the skis to turn. After a long ride my arms feel exhausted. I'm not sure if this is normal with a Nytro or if I can correct this with suspension settings. Maybe you're having the same problem as me.
I weigh about 170 with gear
Fox Floats are at 55 psi, limiter strap on the longest hole which is factory setting, mid compression shock on hard (20 clicks to the right I believe), rear on Soft setting and I took all transfer off. Sled runs awesome but wish the steering wasn't so hard. Anyone with suggestions?
By the way how do I change my rear to Medium from soft? I did this last year and cant remember what I did and the manual doesn't really say in detail. I know its a stupid question but I don't want to brake the shock by monkeying with it not know what to turn.

Had this same problem with my RS Rage. I found that the support bushing behind the chain case was the culprit. It is kind of a bummer to get at, (have to take the brake assembly off) . Mine just didn't have enough clearence in ths bushing. Took it out and sanded it a little and greased it with white lithium grease and the problem was over. Hope this helps you out. I know there have been similar post on this same problem.

you can adjust the suspension setting by taking a wrench from you're tool kit and put it on the block by the torsion spring. you will see the 3 settings molded into the block turn it to the desired setting the one side that make contact with the spring is the spring setting. if you are referring to the front shock use a spanner wrench to rotate the large flat nuts there is 2 one is a jam nut they willl be tight keep them that way a spanner wrench is not included in the tool kit.

Thank you. I thought that's how you do it but I think my shock is frozen from riding and I didn't defrost it enough for it to turn. If I get the spanner wrench and adjust the rear front spring will this make a different in the handling? I'm going to get the Curve XS ski's with my tax money so not sure if I should try this adjustment with the rear front spring or not. I don't want to buy the wrench if it wont change anything or make the handling worse.

I did check my turning radius by lifting the sled so the skis are off the ground and turning and it turns freely. I'm having a different problem than Homer2210. I didn't mean to hijack your post. I thought we had a similar problem.

sounds like you have too much ski pressure changing ski's will not fix that adjustments will. my recommendation is to make small adjustments and test it will take awhile but it will be worth it. there is a post about ski's i believe it's a yamablog you should read it.

FWIW we have had some very tight hard trail snow cond. this year probably due to some very cold temps. here in the midwest.
My 08 RS V GT is jeckyl and hyde when the snow loosens up vs. grommed and hard /cold tmps.

Ok, think I found some of my problem. I went to lubricate all the ball joints and pivots on the steering linkage. Near the front of the steering under my airbox/battery are 2 pivots leading to the skis. I removed the bolts to find a bushing around the bolts, I greased them and it seemed to help the steering alot. However near the main steering shaft from the bottom of the handlebars down to the front of th sled, near the top of the shaft there is a cover plate that has a bushing around the shaft in this area, I would like to take this cover plate off to gain access to the bushing to grease it, The cover plate is held together by 3 bolts, this is located behind the reverse lever mount. How do I get around to the backside of these bolts, I see that I might have to remove the coolant box, but I still cannot reach the bolt heads to loosen.
