My goal is to get this thread into a potential sticky like the exhaust donut and cam chain tensioner repair threads.
Can somebody please take and/or post a picture(s) of exactly where the oil tank cracks? Or pictures of the mount bracket that's near the area where it cracks? Also, pictures of the mods you have done to prevent future occurrences.
In almost 8000 miles of trail cruising...no problems so far for me (knock on wood). But of there is a mod that will prevent a potential ruined trip, I'll do it.

it's not a problem specific to the RS series afaik it's been an issue with all sleds having the tank used before they changed to the round one. i believe they've cracked in a number of different places but the most common is the lower mounting corner ear. on my brothers sled we enlarged the hole the stud goes through and installed a grommet. hopefully this will stop it from happening. there have been a number of threads on different boards. this is one from TY http://www.ty4stroke.com/viewtopic.php? ... sc&start=0
