Got out for a decent ride yesterday.
I am now past the first break in period (160km, 100 mi) so I was able to get into the throttle a little more agressively. This sled pulls nicely in the 0-80 mph range. I had limited opportunity to test much above 80 so I will wait until I do to comment. At this point I believe this sled will provide all the power I need, comparable to my Viper for sure.
The handling is very good. Not far off from my Viper based on initial impressions. Once we get some good colds temps and freshly groomed trails I will really be able to tell. So far I have been riding mainly packed base with loose surface.
On this latest ride darting was not an issue. I had noticed some in my 100 km or 60 mi ride report. The conditions were less prone to darting this time out. I have a set of Woody's Doolys to put on once the trail conditions improve.
Exhaust note is very sweet, I just love to blip that throttle at idle. Once you start riding the wind/drivetrain noise dominates, engine sounds becomes a muted grumble, very nice. I really like this.
I noticed the sensation of intermimttent cluth slippage once again on this ride. Most noticable when babying the throttle through 5-7 krpm. If you punch it the rpms surge and it goes away. I am taking my sled into the dealer on Tuesday for the clutch rattle fix, I will have them inspect the clutches at the same time. Perhaps the secondary is sticking open a little?
I love this ripsaw track. It hooks up very well.
Gas comsumption appears to be very good. I say appears as I am just going off the gauge from the ride as I have not refilled to know how many litres were used. I rode 150kms yesterday, just over 1/2 tank used according the gauge (I went from 4/8 bars showing to 3/8 at the very end of the ride).
I am heading out for a two day ride on the 20/21st. This will be my next opportunity to enjoy this sled.
Overall I am very impressed with the Vector so far.

The stock clutching has a overshift when you punch it in the 5-7000 rpm range. Our stage 1 kit fixes this problem. If you go to our website and look at the track dyno graphs you can see where the stock clutching overshifts. This is what you're noticing!

On the graphs, would this be the decline in HP between 25-30 mph?
Why would this be intermittent? Why would I not notice it when I am on the gas hard?

I think what srxspec might be saying is that when you punch it @ your 5-7 range, the some of the motors power/delay is the clutches shifting to a lower ratio. I am also guessing that because of the fact that this motor has gobs of torque everywhere, they might have the clutches tuned to upshift quicker during light torque load (cruising)
If I have this right it is a little like overdrive for better mpg

The Stage 1 kit gives a better upshift and a quicker backshift. What you're experiencing when you punch it at the 5-7k range and it slips is a lack of "downshifting" aka backshift.
Tork, you hit the nail on the head!

Fliper, SRX and tork have your answer i noticed it to and that is what it is, After you back off and blip the throttle a bit the clutch does not shift back for that small amount of load but when you stab it hard you don't notice it because the torque that motor makes at low RPM will shift it back with out noticing it. If that were a two smoke you would have a bawg. A clutch kit will solve that but you may notice a bit higher crusing RPM ( no over drive) and usualy a slight loss in gas milage but i am going to make that sacrafice. Hope this help's. Kevin

With our clutch kits we test stock at a cruising speed of 30, 50, and 70 mph. All three stages keep the cruising speed within 100 rpm of stock, except they have alot more punch when you grab a hand full of throttle! We specifically looked at the cruising speeds when developing these kits.

Thanks for all of the help guys
I have a roller secondary that I took off of my Viper. I will contact the manufacturer and see if they have a new setup for the RS.
If not, srxspec I will be contacting you.

Flipper, if you can tell me which roller secondary it is I may be able to point you in the right direction if they haven't had a chance to tune with a Vector yet.

Allen me too, I got a hi-tech encapsulated roller I'd like to use. I need to get you a consulting fee for which spring and ramp to use. For the primary is the HH profile good for the vector??

Tork, can you tell me which spring and helix you have in your ER secondary? The heavy hitter profile will work in the Vector just fine. Unfortunately I haven't tuned them myself in the Vector model. I do however sell the Super Tip weights! I'll be out of the office today, but if you guys can give me what helix & spring you use in your roller clutches I may be able to help.

Here is the link to the website of the vendor
http://www.advant-edgemotorsport.com/
It is the R3 roller, used to be called the Roller Rooster.
I would like to take advantage of this in any setup I will run.
I am not sure if the Viper and Vector secondary are the same? If so I should be able to bolt this on with the correct secondary spring and helix.

Lots of good information and advice here. Allen, I'm interested in your Stage 1 kit for an easy fix to this, once my dealer addresses the rattling problem. Can I order from your website?

Tork, it's been a few years since I've played with the Encapsulated Roller clutch, but with the Heavy Hitter or Super Tip style weights they are adjustable and can be made to work with pretty much any secondary setup.
Flipper, I know the folks from Advant-Edge very well. They are our supplier for all secondary helixes. Your R3 roller will bolt right onto your Vector. I currently have two of these units sitting here, but haven't had time to test them yet as we have concentrated on the stock clutches first.
twomorestrokes, the Stage 1 kit will be ready to ship hopefully by Monday, I'm just waiting for the shipment of helixes to show up. You can order directly from the website by going through "Buy Now" option which will allow you to pay through paypal or by credit card if you don't have paypal! If you have any questions feel free to email me!
Thanks & think snow!
