Got out last night on the new Vector. We also has an 05 RX-1 with us.
We ran up and down a railway bed a few times.
This sled rocks
A few initial observations
* Fantastic throttle response, it wants to go.... Seat of the pants it didn't feel as strong as the RX but not far off.
* The track hooks up very well
* The exhaust note is very cool and you barely notice it once you are moving along (5-6K RPM). Pretty much just wind noise. This sled if very quiet.
* No twisty trail riding yet, but the steering response feels good. Not too twitchy.
* Some darting, not nearly as much as the RX-1 that was with us. I will plan on the shim fix for this as it worked well on my Viper.
* Nice instrumentation, works very will at night
* Clutch rattle is quite noticable at idle, dissapears once RPM's increase. The RX-1 you could barely notice any noise coming from the clutch at idle.
I have one concern after this initial ride,
It seemed at times that my clutches were slipping. I think the frequency of this was decreasing as the night wore on. I noticed this issue when starting from stop and keeping the RPM's below 6K. I would get to 6K but the sled would not be moving nearly as fast as it should have been at those RPM's. If I hit the gas a little the clutches would grab and then it would behave normally from that point on. If I got into the gas more from stop this did not happen. Any thoughts?
Now I just can't wait to get some trail riding in.....

I didn't notice this clutch slip concern on mine, but have only gotten 12 miles in so far...you lucky dog. Guess I won't worry about the rattle/ knock at idle as it seems like they all have it. My friend with an '04 RX1 says he didn't remember hearing that on his last season.
I agree...the Vector rocks!

You might want to check your primary clutch for black burn marks. Mine burnt the belt a little just from unloading from the truck. Problem was the dealer did not do a good job of cleaning the clutches. They have a coating on them from the factory. Its worth a look.

Thanks. I'll take a look and clean the sheaves before riding again. I thought I smelled belt when I put it on the trailer to leave from up north. Too bad you have to pay so much for setup and then have to go through and double check everything.

Also take a green scotch brite pad and scuff the sides of your belt then wash it in hot soapy water. This will help get rid of any residue that's on the belt from when they're new and will help get rid of any glazing the belt may have recieved from not being broken in.

Good advice. Those belts aren't cheap!

I'll clean up the clutch faces and the belt and see how it behaves next time out.
Thanks
