I have 145 miles on my RS Venture.

Nice sled but I need advice on suspension changes.

My situation:
1. 90% of the time I'll be riding it as a ONE-up.
2. I'm 190lbs w/out gear
3. When I sit on the sled, it goes down only very slightly (1").
4. It steers VERY heavy on the front.
I swapped w/my buddy's new Polaris Switchback 800 and it handled so nimble it was incredible. Next day, my forearms were sore from having to man handle the RS. WAY too heavy in the front.
5. Can't lift the skis from a dead stop if it had too (again, me thinks the frontend is too heavy).
6. Lifts the skis when you zig-zag. The Polaris could kick my #*$&@ in cornering.

Ok, what changes do I need to make in order to:
A) Make the suspension softer
B) LIGHTEN up the front weight for steering
C) Keep the skis on the ground when cornering (not a huge issue - I don't aggressively ride and especially not through corners)

Thanks!

I will tell you how I set up mine and my 14 year old daughter rides is with ease.

Rear spring on Med, Center spring on Middle, front springs all the way down changed skis to Simmons dual runner.

Concur with Ted,

Same settings however, I put a set of Doo precision skis (dual runner) on the front which are pretty much the same as Simmons.

I also have the heavy spring in the back, and ride either medium or soft spring setting up front, depending on conditions.

Did not like the stock skis at all. Have almost 6,000 miles on my 05, wife and I absolutely love it!

Ski change, and don't be afraid to find a comfortable setting will make a big difference.

Hope this helps. ;)!

I adjusted the rear transfer rods to almost full transfer.

I tried keeping the middle spring at full hard to help the sled teeter a little more fore and aft, but I can't say I'm thrilled with it, even after a year...

I've been seriously contemplating a set of mountain skis. I added 6" shapers this fall, but I haven't been on nicely packed trail yet, it's been consistently cold here.
