We have a couple 2013 RS Ventures with about 1000 miles each now. The OEM 4" skegs wore down to nothing already and the slides look to have worn prematurely on the skid...kind of more towards the center and not evenly.

We ordered up some new 8" carbides but how do you adjust the suspension to get better balance and ski pressure?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

this may or may not have something to do with the weight transfer adjustment in the far back of the rear suspension. there are two nuts pressed against each other. im not entirely sure how they work, but it might be worth looking into.

Thank you for your reply. Definitely worth a look. Great machines just need some better ski grab!

Just did my brothers 13 venture gt. He has roughly the same milage on his. I set his up according to info I found on here.

Front a arms are parallel to the ground. Skis are set to 1/4" toed out and have been changed to apex mountain skis with 6" carbides. Torsion springs are set to soft, rear shock not touched for settings. Front skid shock was adjusted to spring rotating by hand with the track suspended off the ground.

I also replaced his sliders plastic and the eight small idler wheels with the kimpex 135mm wheels. Sled rolls much Easter now.

His sled used to push bad in the corners until I put the mountain skis on it. Now it corners much better.

His stock carbides where still good though. Have you been doing a lot of road crossings or running? That is the only time I am hard on carbides.

Yes, last year we put on some late season miles where we had to run some roads to get to a gas station. They most likely spent 80% of their life on that gas stop.

Thanks for the info. That setup makes sense. Worth a try for sure. Interesting about the skis.

I am the brother he speaks of, and the skis made a HUGE difference. The sled can actually corner now. You will lose 10 kmph on the top end with the mountain skis, but you can take corners so much easier and faster.

With the power steering and the deep keel on the skis, the skis tend to stay in ruts that other sleds skis have made, but this is a minor issue to me and you do get used to it.

Good info! Sounds like lots of guys swap out there OEM skis for something else. I have SlyDogs on my Viper. Ultimately this will be my dad's decision as they are his sleds. He will be making a March trip to northern MN and cornering has been a real issue. The new Dooly skegs help but an adjustment is definitely needed. Ski are a consideration. Thanks again fellas and ride safe! I had a pretty good spill on my Viper this weekend in near white out conditions. Praise be to God that I'm still here!

Those stock skis from the 2013 venture seems to work on my 2005 warrior very well.( stole them from couch rider) as to the transfer/coupling rods if you adjust for more transfer easy to turn bars but it will push. Less transfer and it will push less but ride worse. By unloading the front spring in the skid you are adding ski pressure. With power steering and 6" carbides and good ski pressure it will turn better. Also in the wear issue for the sliders with new slids on the track will rest on the sliders and not touch the wheels( kinda dumb but hey) so you either need a wheel relocated kit bigger wheels or the DuPont sliders.

My 2013 rails and is not tippy, throw a set of snotrackers and the machine transforms itself, the 2 nuts at the rear of the suspension is to adjust transfer,i didnt tweak with that, all i know is i have 4000 km this season on the venture and lovin it,minimal slider wear also, but with all the snow this year, trails are tops
