rtx cooling questions

Have almost 200 miles on the rtx in poor snow conditions with no over heating problems but checking my anti freeze it looks to be 100%ethylene glycol. The tester shows it good to-45 which makes me think no water has been added.
Is there a way to test for the water/ anti freeze mixture ratio?
What is the easiest way to drain some antifreeze to add water ?

If you are testing it with a tester.. and it shows it is good up to -45 than it is not a 50/50 mix..

What i did was pull the top hose off of the small radiator and let run out.. (use a catch pan) than fill the resivoir back up with strait DISTILLED water!

What would the rating be if it was a 50/50 mix? Isn't -49 good enough? Just curious.

-49 is TOO good. Antifreeze has two jobs : prevent freezing and cooling.

Pure antifreeze excells in the "prevents freeze" job hence the -50 rating but doesn't do the "cooling" job that well. Add some water you reducing the freezing point but enhance the cooling, so there is that "give & take" blend to get that happy medium.

Darn, you are right. Just like my truck. I need to get a grip realize I have a car engine in my sled. lol

For what it's worth, my dealer THINKS the coolant coming from Yamaha IS the 60/40 mix & IS NOT straight anti-freeze, he's checking into it & will advise.

Both my Warrior and my Bro-in-laws Venom had 100% ethylene glycol last year. Told the dealer and said they come from the factory filled and all they do is top them off (with Polaris premix).
