2014 Yamaha Viper RTX SE
Finally got some time on the new sled. Coming off an 09 RTX SE with a few goodies I was skeptical. After the first mile, the smile never left my face. This sled can handle just about anything I can give it. Granted I have the rc2 on the front and curves skis, this sled is remarkably stable. It wants to stay flat and is very stable. With only a couple of hundred miles on it, I do believe the top end of the engine needs a bit more but overall I am very impressed with how the sled handles. Looking forward to some nice smooth trails at some point to really test the engine but in the rough stuff this thing just handles!!

I believe there are a few small things that could be a bit better. Maybe an inch higher on the handlebars, two inches in the seat height, better traction around the running boards, particularly on the edges ( feet slipped off multiple times) and some way to take the edges off where your knees are. But that would be about it. It is a fun sled and is amazingly stable. Very happy with it.

I will say, it's not a true yamaha in terms of build quality. The ground wire to the fuel pump broke today which resulted in my first toe ever in 25 years of riding yamahas. Pretty depressing as we were only about 70 miles into our ride. Regardless, it is a good handling sled that can eat up the rough stuff.

They are very sweet rides. Have fun.

where about did the ground wire break? I think this is the second time I have heard about this happening. If you can tell where it broke it may save others from having to be towed in, and be able to do a trail-side repair

Finally got my RTX out today. Colder than all hell but so much nicer in the rough stuff than the ole apex.
