I am running an unstudded 1.38" Cobra track in my 07 rtx. It has stock gearing (22-38). Would I be disappointed with 23-38 gears? I do mostly aggressive twisty trail riding with occasional long straights and lake runs. On drags against 800 ETECS I get beat because of track spin and lack of top end (108 max is all I have seen on the speedo in optimal condtions). If I go to 23 on the top, will I need to do anything with the clutches?

23 tooth gear takes a 70 link chain, 23 will give more top end, didn't matter to me. I liked the 22 better because of the bottom end. I have a used gear and chain if your interested?

From the style of riding you do (as quoted) the 22 would be my choice....the cobra track should bite more in most good snow conditions so.....I used to think that way but learned many years ago even when I used to informal drag race . My sled was always quicker ( not faster) say at a 1000ft vs taller gearing the race was over unless you are running for a mile or two across the lake. That is why I think for the style you do it will and should be quicker and a little more responsive. It takes a long run to see the difference between the two. FYI I have a apex with 22/38 and some clutch work and have raced three different newer 800 ski-doo's and not lost ....( they were close). I would say those runs were over 1/4 mike mark! I would rather get to the 108 mph much quicker than the other guy because he has a lot of work to do to catch ya at that speed! \And last but not least by any means.... you have to get the sled to hook-up. weight transfer in suspension set-up, studs engagement rpm's ... a lot of things that must be looked at to improve!

07 rtx sleds dont transfer all that good in my experience ,but thats not what your looking for.cant go wrong with a 23 for speed and trail rippin.lots of variables .no need to touch the clutches other then sand/scuff sheeves ,blow out with air, clean ,check and clean belt ,check deflection and change spring in primary and secondary to keep things fresh!

Thanks for the responses guys... I think you convinced me to leave the gearing at 22-38.
