I just read the post about the RTX tunnel is going to be black now? What the heck is going on here? If I wanted a black tunnel I would have ordered a GT.

I hear ya and would be pissed if I had my heart set on bare aluminum. For what it's worth, I saw it both ways and it looks very sharp black.

The way they advertised it is the way it should come.
I agree. If it bugs you that much, now is the time to complain while they could actually do something about it if they wanted.

I thought only the GT had a black tunnel until recently. Now it upset some folks, Yamaha could give the customer the choice.

I ordered a GT but don't like the black tunnel. Who knows maybe I'll skip it and keep what I have. Anyone want a GT?

No they are not powder coated, heard that from the top :D :D

I've stripped a VMax tunnel, 4-6 hours, not of real work just mostly letting the stripper do its thing. Around the footwells, and rivits it is a bit of a pain.

My point is we have all ordered them and laid out the 10 grand, then they all of a sudden decide to change a pretty major look to the sled. This is like ordering a sports car that is suppose to come through with ground effects and all of a sudden the manufacturer changes there mind and takes them off of the car. Who is Mr. Sled getting his information from? I really hope it is direct from Japan because I have found some reps to not be a very good source of information.

You have a very legit complaint buddy. If it was me, I would contact Yamaha directly. Get a number from your dealer on who you should call and try to start at the top.

Prototypes are always "subject to change". I know its a personal preference thing and Yamaha should have never showed the non painted tunnel when they were released. I personally think the unpainted looks out of place on the sled. The show I went to had black tunnels on RTX. It would be nice if it were an option. You have a very legitamate complaint. I believe there were a few things Yamaha heard at the shows. One was how nice the black looked on RTX tunnels, 2 was the seat was to soft and 3 was the rear storage flap looks silly. All three were addressed and changed based on consumer feedback at the shows..BBY
