I had my suspension all apart, reinstalled everything and had to take the mono dial (cable and boot) back off the sled. Now I'm not sure how that boot gets installed. I realize there's a welded bracket that fits the molded rubber, however on the Attak, there's an additional bracket that's bolted onto the arm holding the white curved slider. What purpose does that second bracket have with the boot if anything? Can someone take a picture of how their boot is secured on an Attak? I have the service manual but it does not show that specific bracket and it's in poor detail.

Thanks,
Jon

Thanks for the picture. I see you've placed the different slider on there. The one I currently have (stock one) does not have that hole on the forward portion. Because of that, the cable coming from the bracket on the tunnel simply curves down and is positioned right by the slider before it goes into the boot within the bracket. I'm thinking that exposed cable from the tunnel to the boot (just hanging there) is not right; although it very well could be. Anyone else have a pic of a stock set up (preferable one mounted with the suspension installed and one without)?

Thanks,
Jon

attakred06,

I put on an Enticer slider as shown in the picture and that mod. is excellent. It's a lot longer and the forward "cut-out" seems like it was specifically made for the mono-cable for these sleds.

Thanks for the tip.

My cable broke twice. Now, I siliconed the end where the cable goes into the shock and don't use the clicker any more. Once I got my, suspension set up.... I found that I didnt change the clicker any way.

That thing is a pain in the #*$&@.

I really like the Phazer. It reminds me a lot of my 300 Enticer; light weight and good power to weight ratio. It's a fun riding sled that begs to be tossed around and ridden playfully. It's a bit top heavy and it has an annoying roll when trying to really zip hard through the twisties. I have very little time on it but I'll figure it out with some shock adjustments and the newly required body english for this type of sled.

I have woodies dual runners and with those carbides this is the first set of stock Yamaha skis that have not darted. It tracks as straight as an arrow. I love the power and don't desire more since this is a 499cc sled. I've had her going plenty fast down the straights (90mph speedo) and it's fast for a small engine machine. The suspension is one of the best I've ridden. I wholloped the bumps from slow speeds to all out and it soaked them up with ease. It's easy to stand up just incase a big hit is approaching and it's also easy to get the front end to come up with a blip of the throttle.

Other than that funky twist roll when gettin' on it in the tight trails, I really like it. I did some fabricating mods to enclose the muffler and also made a radiator guard. Other than that, it's all stock.

They must really plan these things well in advance.... :rules

LB, I couldn't agree more. If one looks at the design of that old style slider with the location and position of the notch with regards to the mono cable coming down off of the dial, you'd think it was a marriage made in heaven. I have an Enticer 300 in my garage right now and there's simply no reason why that is designed like that for that old sled. It does however look like it was made perfectly for that cable to fit under to keep out of the way of the track.
