If I'm the only one who heard this, I'm not gonna get excited. If someone else heard it, then I will.
Here it is.
a 2 cylinder, 4 - stroke with a turbo (800 class)
light weight design (supposedly the weight of a 2 stroker, but no smoker) HA
oh ya, from YAMAHA.

That would fit the new wolverine 2 motor with a turbo on it!

I know Yamaha has been working on a new Grizzly motor, this may be it in the NA version, Yamaha likes to use their motors in different products to scale their investment, not sure what the HP numbers would be on a 800 turbo.

If it is 800 class horsepower, it would most likely be a boosted version of the 500 phazer engine.
It would just need stronger rods and pistons, and lower compression.

This post is gonna turn into a you know what show. Nobody knows anything and it's all speculation. Why would Yamaha be working on a new Grizzly motor when they could just use the new Wolverine motor. I don't think they will be using the Phazer motor in anything it cost to much to manufacture. If anything I think it would be the 850 Wolverine motor but I really doubt that it will come into play.

If and that's a big IF, they are working on this motor, with it being shared with a possible sled and the grizzly, it will be the wolverine motor! The Dirt trax boys said in their review that the wolverine version has a lot more portencial if Yamaha wanted to do add more ponies!

From what I was told by a Yamaha rep which I had a chance to talk with for abit a month or two ago, is they tried the 850 in the new Grizzly but it kept over heating, so they have a major cooling issue with the 850 in the Grizz frame, he figured Yamaha will build a new engine to fit the new Griz frame and address the cooling issue, so if there is any truth to a new 800 then I was thinking the NA version may be the Grizz new engine, then a turbo version for the sled side, hopefully if this play's out the new turbo motor will sit in a new Yamaha chassis, not a pro cross.

I see little reason to design a new sled engine for the old procross and Textron only uses the Sidewinder turbo engine. I agree if this happens the new engine will be used in a new Yamaha chassis but the ROI of Yamaha retooling for new sleds somewhere seems remote. I hope I’m wrong but Yamaha has lost a lot of users to other OEMs so it’s getting late to try and bar the door at this point in time.

Yes, I agree, the 900 ace and turbo version from Doo and its platform offerings and second to none accessories options is stealing the show, Yamaha maybe and that's a big maybe trying to address this, but they will NOT do it with the pro cross chassis no matter what shock and color options and improvements.
