I dont doubt that, Pro116. I was impressed by the Vector that I demo rode 2 years ago. I came into it thinking the 4-strokers were all magazine hype and boy was I wrong!
I was merely saying that considering everyone on here with a Viper says no way will a Vector beat them that its surprising that all these guys are smoking 700 XCs so easily. Like I said, a 700 XC has about 7 hp on a Viper and is about 40 pounds lighter.
I think though, that its not really fair to compare a 4-stroke and a 2-stoke based on horsepower alone because 4-strokes put out so much more torque and the powerband is so much wider.
Believe me, Im not trying to stand up for the XC. Im not some Polaris guy who comes on here to bash Yamaha and stir the pot.
Im just surprised that even a lightly modded Vector can hang with lighter and more powerfull sleds.

i dont think i could take a valved xc 700.

Was it 99 or 00 the XC's went to the VES? How much HP did the non-VES engine make? 127 seems high?

700 XC
The 99 xc 700 I ran was a stock 700 non ves and would not stay with me anywhere. I ran a 98 700 xc non ves that was moded. He told me it was pushing over 130 hp. If we ran from a dead stop I would jump him out of the hole and never see him again. If we hit it at around 70 he would jump me about 2 sled lenghts and stay there. We tried top end several times and these two sleds were just about the same on top I just was stronger down low and he was a little stronger in the mid. But I only have 400 miles on it and they say it isn't broke in until around 800 miles.
