I am going to put running board heat exchanger on my xtx cant deal with beating the ice out of them boondocking. I got the idea from a post in the phazer forum. Has anyone done this to there nytro. Going to get a set of takeoffs from the junkyard and figure out the plumbing. Warm feet would be nice too on the trail

or for probly the same amount of time it'll take to add coolers, you could add after market running boards, and shave some weight in the process...plus they look cool.

Just what I was thinking.

I think that's an awesome idea. Living in the north my right foot has been getting cold all winter riding the Nytro, and I've often thought about how nice it would be to have the heat exchangers from my old XCR mounted under the running boards.

Good luck with the project.

I have and old XLT carcass laying around and was wondering about using the running board exchangers off of it. I was going to try and mount it in the tunnel where the extra exchanger went anyway. My temp light comes on more than I would like it too.

Get some ice scratchers and you wont have that problem again.

I want to go with the heat exchanger not just for the snow buildup but for the warm feet. If i was worried about the weight i would have bought the flimsy skidoo my wife rides.

we've got 4 vectors and a phazer. when its -25 your feet dont feel it at all. i feel no difference in warmth of my feet wether on the phazer or one of the vectors. i've also got some insane boots from marks work wearhouse, with a egg shell pattern boot liner under the actual liner to keep my feet off the bottom of the boot. wore a set of klims for 2 rides and took them back.

I think if i could get rid of the radiator by adding cooling to the running boards i might breakeven on the weight. Would also lower the cg a bit and snow would not be an issue getting in the way of the boards after an hour of boondocking. I do like the look of the aftermarket boards. If i can make the heatexchanger idea work with a set of part out exchangers and sell the radiator on fleabay it will cost very little. One thing that sticks out in my mind was with my old apex and even with the srx i have now. If you are rideing on superhardpack snow you can put a bit of snow on the boards to cool it down on a warm day. I supose a set of scratchers would help too. I see the heated boards being more functional than the "better boards" But they dont look as good.

Well i have hit the first road block. Need to get the heat exchangers mounted to the board and the rivits from the factory doubler on the running boards are in the way. How am i going to mount this flush? Drill out the rivits and tig weld the doubler?

Drill out the rivets and re-rivet from the underside. Will give you extra traction on the running boards.

Any progress? Pics? I'd love to do something like this, as I'm sick of the Nytro running hot.

Actually, I'm a little worried about the Nytro now. Last night someone else was riding the Nytro and ran it with the light on for quite a ways. When we got home and pulled up to the house there was steam coming out from under the hood, and what's weirder is that today there was a puddle of gas under the sled, like it had come out the tank vent. But the tank was no where near full, so I have no idea why the gas would leak out after the sled over heated.
